What You'll Do:
As Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will lead the team and work closely with other departments ensuring that they cohesively work together and launch new products, executing productivity projects with the desired costs, quality, and efficiency. You will be responsible for the following responsibilities, which include but not be limited to:
- Be responsible for leading, planning, directing, and coordinating the development and execution of manufacturing engineering strategic objectives. Develop and ensure annual budget management to achieve annual operating plan commitments including head count, plant manufacturing system development plan, productivity improvement.
- Lead the transition of new products from development into pilot run and mass production. Supervise process integration in NPI project launches and sustaining existing products, ensure seamless development and maintenance of core documentation (Costing, MFG-BOM, Work Instructions, Test Instructions, Cycle Time) and utilizing Process Failure modes and Effects Analysis (P-FMEA) methodologies.
- Recommend product changes/improvements to Design/Product Engineers based upon PFMEA's and manufacturability, determine effectivity of changes and assure compliance to such. Observe/monitor new technologies, competitors, industry trends and report to management.
- Assures that all quality requirements, engineering testing requirements & standards are included in all work and/or working instructions, testing procedures and other documentation. Suggesting improvements in product design to simplify manufacturing.
- Participate in early new product development activities as Operations Management Representative; ensure Design for Manufacturability and cost effective.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality and Production to investigate root cause and come up with correction, corrective actions, and preventive actions. Implement processes to drive site performance in safety, quality, and productivity to best in class driving out the "Cost of Poor Quality" continuously.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentoring junior team members & develop cross-functional project leadership talent. Assure team members are appropriately cross trained to mitigate single point failures from a resource perspective. Implements the performance measurements necessary to effectively evaluate organizational performance. Utilizes the results of performance evaluation, observations, and feedback to identify improvement efforts, and assures timely development and improvement.
- Lead cross-functional teams including Product Management, Engineering, Solution, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Production, Quality, and suppliers to drive cost reduction during product life cycle.
- Develop detailed project plans and timelines including resource and equipment needs, budgets, outside contractors, etc. Proactively document, track, and communicate project status including problem areas. Ensure work is completed in the required time frame and within budgetary requirements.
- Support necessary personnel for internal, customer and third-party quality system audits.
- Support customer quotation and technical inquiry.
- Occasionally business travel.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
- Completion of a Manufacturing/Industrial/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
- 3-5 years Manufacturing/Industrial/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering experience in a low volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Solid knowledge in hardware/software test or validation methodology and proficient documentation capability, including test report, RCA (Root cause analysis) etc.
- Good experience of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA) is an asset.
- Good knowledge of ERP software, BOM structures, routings, Engineering Change process and non-conforming process.
- Project management/coordination experience is an asset.
- Strong computer skills (including AutoCAD/Solid Works - latest version, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Visio).
- Strong detail oriented and result oriented mind-set.
- Clear thinking, strong planning and organizational and interpersonal & communication skills.
