This position will have remote and hybrid workplace options available, however it will still be required to report to the Denver address at least once a month and may be required to additionally report to a designated state office at the direction of the supervisor.

This position leads the financial management and reporting for the Division of Workers' Compensation (Division). Position possess a high level of knowledge and expertise that is needed to oversee fiscal rules and policy, analyze data, develop reports, resolve budgeting issues, determine necessary changes to improve fiscal outcomes, and monitor funding streams. Position provides technical expertise to Division leadership on fiscal regulations and requirements. Position is responsible for ongoing fiscal monitoring of Division programs and ensuring accurate and appropriate financial reporting by the Division and contractors. Position establishes and monitors policies and procedures that ensure compliance with state laws, rules, and policies. Validates the accuracy and completeness of various documents and reports, and the reconciliation of reporting systems and associate reports. Monitors and evaluates Division expenditures to ensure the appropriate use of state funds and that legislative appropriations are not exceeded.

This position is responsible for providing support to the Director and other staff of the Business Operations Program. This includes purchases and approvals, arranging all Division staff travel, and overseeing and execution of division-wide projects.

This position plays a pivotal role in overseeing the contract lifecycle of all contracts within the Division. The position is responsible for ensuring that contracts are effectively managed and monitored by the respective program managers to meet the Division's strategic goals and legal requirements. This position possesses a high level of knowledge and expertise to oversee operational and administrative rules and policy, analyze data, develop reports, and resolve issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:
Seven (7) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position: financial management, budgeting, and contract management, including overseeing fiscal compliance and reporting.

This experience must also include the following in order to be considered due to the requirements of the position: Application and familiarity with the State of Colorado fiscal rules and statutes.

Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to seven (7) years,

Relevant educational fields are as follows: accounting, business, economics, finance, government, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with the State's financial accounting software, CORE.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other financial modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with state or government budgeting and financial systems.
  • Experience performing similar duties to the position as a State of Colorado employee.
