Position Description

The Project Management Office (PMO) in Seattle City Light's Utility Technology Division (UTD) supports a multi-faceted portfolio of technology projects that meets the needs of business areas across the Utility. This is an exciting time to be part of the Utility's transformation in an effort to meet our customers' present and future demands with electricity. This role provides an opportunity for you to bring your experience and expertise to help us respond to a rapidly growing and evolving technology landscape.
In this role, the project delivery manager will further develop and implement standard practices, processes, and deliverables to support successful technology project delivery through all project lifecycle phases from Initiation to Close. The project delivery manager will work closely with Utility business partners to ensure project delivery needs are met and will play a key role in ensuring the project managers have the support they need to successfully deliver technology projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing all phases of technology projects, an understanding of technology project transition to operations, and in-depth experience establishing project governance that will help move the projects forward and deliver within budget and on schedule. This position will also be responsible for working with the Project Managers (PMs) and Business Analysts (BAs) for each project to ensure we are measuring project success against business goals and objectives.

Job Responsibilities

- Collaborate with PMO team and all PMs and BAs to support the successful delivery of utility technology projects.
- On-board and train newly hired Project Managers (PMs) and Business Analysts (BAs) on our project management framework.
- Facilitate the deliverable review process for stage gates with the Roadmap Governance Group.
- Lead continuous improvement with the processes and deliverables to make them more efficient and effective.
- Help develop and support an improved resource management approach to ensure the projects have the resources they need to be successful with implementation.
- Support project managers with establishing project governance.
- Support the various project management approaches and ensure the processes and deliverables are clearly outlined for each.
- Align deliverables and stage gates as appropriate with Seattle IT, other departments as needed and City Light Project Management Framework.
- Oversee the management and updates of deliverable templates in a template library; ensure standardized template use for appropriate phases.
- Ensure appropriate content developed to support successful project outcomes and deliverable quality assurance.
- Be available to support all PMs and BAs with training on required deliverables and provide feedback on deliverables prior to sign off.
- Build trust, credibility and effective working relationships with UT leaders, business relationship managers, and business partners.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with project teams.

- 7+ years' project related experience including project management and / or business analysis.
- 5+ years' experience in managing project delivery processes and supporting business analysts and project managers.
- Experience/exposure to the Utility Industry.
- Experience with technology projects in the Utility Industry.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of BABOK and PMBOK knowledge areas.
- Experience with all project management approaches and ability to apply deliverables to each approach. Includes awareness of various agile techniques and ability to apply as needed.
- Excellent leadership skills and ability to facilitate consensus with project managers and business analysts on deliverables, as well as consistent handling of RAID log.
- Strong problem solving and issue resolution skills.
- Process oriented with strong attention to detail.
- Strong meeting facilitation skills.
- Passion to mentor others and demonstrated ability to inspire and create a high-performance culture.
- Knowledge of ITIL Framework.
- PMP Certification.
