Job Summary
Mandate:
Reporting to the Director of Maintenance and Operations, the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for: preparing, scheduling, and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance for facilities, building systems, and equipment. This role ensures that maintenance activities are conducted efficiently, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency. The position also involves close collaboration with various maintenance shops, Occupational Health and Safety, Risk, and laboratory technicians to synchronize maintenance tasks and downtime across different departments effectively.

This position requires a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field specializing in maintenance planning and scheduling, and five years' experience in a planner/scheduler role, preferably in a facilities environment.

- Recruitment range: $79,376- $87,518 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
- Performance range: $103,243 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.
Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Maintenance and Operations, the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for: preparing, scheduling, and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance for facilities, building systems, and equipment. This role ensures that maintenance activities are conducted efficiently, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency. The position also involves close collaboration with various maintenance shops, Occupational Health and Safety, Risk, and laboratory technicians to synchronize maintenance tasks and downtime across different departments effectively.
Objectives:
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules to ensure optimal operational continuity and equipment reliability. Plan and prioritize both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to prevent operational disruptions.
- Serve as a key liaison between maintenance managers, shops, and other departments, ensuring maintenance activities are well-coordinated with ongoing organizational operations and scheduled effectively to minimize impact.
- Coordinate responses to inspections by fire departments, WSBC, TSBC, or other regulatory authorities. Work closely with facility users and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders involved in maintenance processes, including reporting on progress and changes in maintenance schedules and priorities.
- Monitor and analyze maintenance data to identify trends, address potential issues proactively, and improve overall maintenance strategies. Provide timely and accurate reports to the Director on maintenance performance metrics.
Job Requirements

- Building and developing maintenance planning and scheduling programs
- Proficiency with CMMS software
- Effective project management skills
- Setting priorities and meeting deadlines
- Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance planning processes
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
In addition, this position requires:
- Strong understanding of the skill sets of various trades to effectively assign tasks
- In-depth knowledge of building practices and codes, including electrical and pressure systems
- Experience with capital project management, planning, and administration
- Demonstrated ability to visualize and communicate the execution of work effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated tact and approachability
- Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
- Ability to read standard blueprints, plant, equipment, and process drawings
- Advanced knowledge of maintenance processes and the proper use of work order systems, planning and scheduling, and storeroom processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and keep them progressing to completion
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with all stakeholders
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Facilities Management such as CEFP, CFM, CMM, FMA, FMP, SFP
- Applied Science Technologist in Electrical or Mechanical
- Red Seal certification in electrical, plumbing, carpentry or mechanical trade
