Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Provides leadership and direction in the execution of high-level quality events and ceremonies that advance Kennesaw State University's mission and vision, as well as priorities and goals related to the strategic plan. Works with department leadership, President's Office, Development Office, Provost, Deans, and other members of the campus community to collaboratively plan major university functions. that require high-level planning due to the nature of the guest list. Serves as the leader in handling all aspects of Presidential events in the absence of management. Manages, trains and mentors assigned staff and/or students.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides leadership, professional expertise, and direction in the planning and execution of high- quality events by coordination with colleagues across all campuses to plan and implement complex large-scale events and major university functions
2. Plans and executes events from conception, design, development, coordination, implementation, and post-event evaluation
3. Leads the implementation and execution of Presidential new initiatives and events
4. Ensures appropriate recruitment, training, and supervision of students and event staff for Presidential and VIP events, supervises assigned staff and student assistants setting and overseeing work schedule, and delegation of assignments
5. Develops and maintains highly professional standards and procedures for production of events in keeping with the image and reputation of the University
6. Attends events as required providing onsite leadership and support, including University-wide special events involving USG representatives, University President, Vice Presidents, Deans, Trustees, Donors, Government officials and/or other high-profile guests
7. Serves as the central campus resource for matters of university event protocol and etiquette
8. Provides on-site support for Lodge events in absence of leadership as well as at sporting events when the President is hosting (including working directly with caterer on menu creation, selections and clean up at event conclusion)
9. Develops and administers the Presidential Events Intern program
10. Responsible for the transportation of alcohol from Jolley Lodge to other event venues and then back to the Jolley Lodge at the conclusion of the event
11. Provides event coordination and support for VP, Government Affairs events
12. Organizes and manages planning committees as needed
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Five (5) years of demonstrated successful experience in hospitality and/or event planning, requiring expertise in applying protocol formulas in complex situations.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certification in Event Planning and/or Venue Management field(s) (e.g., CMP, CMM, CVP, CCEP)
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Proposed Salary
The minimum of the salary range is $73,160. Offers are based on relevant experience.

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills
Demonstrated project and time management skills
Aptitude to address complex issues in-the-moment utilizing a clear, thoughtful manner and to come to resolution quickly without jeopardizing the event or relationships with people involved
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite and use of event management software)
Position requires adhering to the business professional dress code
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
