Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marine Assurance Business Development Manager to join our dynamic team in Houston, TX. This role focuses on driving growth and sales for our consulting services within the maritime and offshore oil and gas industries. The ideal candidate will be a skilled relationship builder with a deep understanding of the maritime and offshore sectors, particularly in safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance. This individual will play a key role in expanding our footprint, enhancing client relationships, and increasing market share through targeted business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Business Development: Lead efforts to identify, pursue, and secure new consulting opportunities within the maritime and offshore oil and gas industries, with a focus on safety, risk management, and assurance services.
  • Client Relationship Management: Develop and nurture long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including shipowners, offshore operators, regulatory bodies, and industry partners.
  • Consulting Sales: Sell and promote a range of marine assurance services, including risk assessments, safety audits, regulatory compliance assessments, and technical consulting.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify new business opportunities and tailor service offerings to meet market demands.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with the technical team to develop tailored proposals, presentations, and bids that address client needs and demonstrate the value of our consulting services.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations and manage contracts, ensuring terms align with company goals while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Industry Representation: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and forums, building our presence and credibility within the maritime and offshore sectors.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on sales performance, pipeline activity, and market feedback to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic goals.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, Business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales within the maritime, offshore oil, or gas industries, with a focus on consulting or assurance services.
  • In-depth knowledge of the maritime and offshore industries, including relevant regulations, safety standards, and risk management practices.
  • Proven track record of successfully identifying and closing new business opportunities in a competitive market.
  • Strong network within the maritime, offshore oil, and gas sectors.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet clients and attend industry events.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies (e.g., ABS, DNV GL, Lloyd's Register) and understanding of industry standards and certifications.
  • Established relationships with key industry players in the maritime and offshore sectors.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and business development software.
