WHO WE ARE: Established locally in 1911, Volunteers of America Northern California & Northern Nevada (VOA NCNN) is one of the region's largest providers of social services. Our professional staff operates more than 40 locally managed and delivered programs. Services include food and shelter, counseling, independent living and parenting skills, substance-abuse treatment and rehabilitation, and job training. Currently, VOA NCNN provides shelter or housing to over 3,500 men, women, and children every night.

Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the secure, stable, and efficient operation of VOA-NCNN's IT systems, including device management, network administration, and cybersecurity. This role involves managing multi-factor authentication (MFA), endpoint protection, backups, active monitoring, patch management, endpoint management, mobile device management (MDM), wireless network infrastructure, vendor relationships, and software licensing assignments. Additionally, the Systems Administrator will deliver employee cybersecurity awareness training and manage disaster recovery processes. The position will be entirely on-site and report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise, be proactive in system optimization, and support organizational IT needs.
OBJECTIVES/ACTIVITIES:
A. Cloud and IT Administration
1. M365 & Cloud Administration: Administer and support Microsoft 365 services and Azure cloud infrastructure, ensuring performance, availability, and security.
2. Vendor & Licensing Management: Manage relationships with IT vendors, including hardware, software, and service providers. Ensure all software licensing is up to date, compliant, and cost-effective.
3. Documentation: Create and maintain detailed records of all system configurations, licenses, policies, and procedures.
B. Device and Endpoint Management
1. Intune Device Management: Implement and manage Microsoft Intune for device management, ensuring policies are enforced across all devices, both on-site and mobile.
2. Mobile Device Management (MDM): Manage the organization's MDM solutions, ensuring secure access to company data and adherence to security policies on all mobile devices.
3. Endpoint Protection: Oversee the deployment and maintenance of endpoint protection solutions to safeguard the organization's devices from cyber threats.
C. Security and Compliance
1. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Implement and manage MFA across critical systems, ensuring secure access for all employees and contractors.
2. Cybersecurity Awareness Training: Conduct regular cybersecurity training for employees, emphasizing the importance of phishing prevention, secure password practices, and overall security awareness.
3. Compliance & Security Policies: Ensure that systems and processes are compliant with IT security standards, organizational policies, and legal requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
D. Network and Infrastructure Management
1. Network & Wireless Administration: Administer the organization's wireless network infrastructure and ensure the LAN/WAN networks are secure, stable, and optimized for performance.
2. Backup & Disaster Recovery: Manage data backup processes and ensure disaster recovery plans are effective and aligned with business continuity strategies.
3. Active Monitoring & Patching: Monitor system performance, detect and respond to issues, and ensure systems are updated regularly with the latest patches and security fixes.
E. Collaboration and Communication
1. Unified Communications: Provide support and management for unified communication platforms, including RingCentral and ShoreTel (experience with these platforms is a plus).
2. Collaboration & Support: Work closely with the IT Director and other internal teams to support organizational objectives, troubleshoot issues, and identify opportunities for system improvements.
Qualifications
EQUIVALENT EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirement. Must have three years of experience in systems administration, network management, IT security, and cloud services. Must have experience in managing enterprise-level IT systems, including Microsoft Intune, mobile device management (MDM), and wireless infrastructure. Must have experience in managing vendor relationships and overseeing software and hardware licensing agreements. Must have Experience implementing security protocols, managing endpoint protection, and conducting cybersecurity awareness training. Microsoft Azure Administrator Certification is preferred. Microsoft 365 - Modern Desktop Administrator, or equivalent certification is preferred. Must have Unified Communications Experience. Experience working with RingCentral and ShoreTel is preferred. Must have strong experience in managing hybrid environments with both cloud-based and on-premises systems, including device management. Must have proven experience with network administration, including wireless technologies and security management. Valid California driver's license and ability to meet the organization's insurance carrier guidelines needed.
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED:
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve complex IT issues.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work well and collaborate with staff at all levels.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to create and maintain detailed IT documentation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Availability: This role requires occasional availability outside of standard working hours for system maintenance and emergency responses.
On-Site Requirements: This position is fully on-site and requires physical presence in the office during working hours. Will be required to travel to program sites in CA and NV.
Ability to lift items up to 30 lbs. and perform tasks requiring repetitive movements, such as using a computer keyboard and monitor.
Pay Range
USD $42.00 - USD $44.00 /Hr.
