Associate Director/Director, Preclinical R&D

Overview

Celldex is looking for a dynamic individual with extensive experience in immunology and antibody development to oversee and actively contribute to projects focused on antibody discovery and characterization. This role combines management responsibilities with hands-on lab work ensuring the successful execution of research goals.

Responsibilities

• Execute on all aspects of antibody discovery and characterization
• Identify needs for specific projects and programs and manage development and execution
• Work closely with other teams to develop overall plans for new products
• Identify any issues that may delay product or project and recommend appropriate action
• Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
• Manage direct reports

Qualifications

• A strong understanding of immunology, protein purification, and immunological assays
• Proficient at flow cytometry, hybridoma development, and antibody characterization methods including ELISA, proliferation, cytokine release, etc.
• Proficient with standard software for analysis and presentation of data
• Effective management skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team

Education/Experience:

• S./M.S. degree in biology or a similar discipline with 10+ years of related experience; or a Ph.D. degree in microbiology with 5+ years of related experience
• Experience with the project management aspects of product development such as timelines, milestones, and validation
• Experience in a supervisory/managerial role
