Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Remediation Director with a strong background in managing complex remediation projects and engaging with regulatory agencies. The successful candidate will have over 15 years of experience in the field and will be responsible for leading a team of senior and junior scientists and engineers.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop and execute remediation strategies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and manage costs effectively within allocated budgets for a large and complex portfolio of environmental remediation projects.
  • Lead and manage a team of experienced senior and junior-level scientists and engineers.
  • Engage with multiple regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to negotiate complex remediation, water access agreements, and consent decrees.
  • Provide active support for property acquisition and divestiture, including properties undergoing or having undergone active remediation.
  • Manage consultants and teams located across various regions.
  • Manage corporate environmental remediation reserves and develop annual project budget requirements.
  • Provide updates and communicate effectively with senior leadership within a large matrix organization.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of environmental sustainability project information, including critical project lists and environmental impact assessments.
  • Coordinate with the Legal Department to resolve environmental notices of violation and support environmental remediation matters.
  • Utilize environmental sustainability calculators to calculate and report on energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, and waste minimization.
  • Travel up to 30% to various project locations as required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of related experience. Alternatively, a minimum of 19 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Degree in a related environmental or engineering discipline.
  • Experience serving as a Remediation Director in a complex organization or as a Senior Remediation Manager on a promotion track.
  • Proven track record of managing complex environmental projects.
  • Experience engaging with regulatory agencies in various jurisdictions.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage both senior and junior team members.
  • Excellent negotiation skills for complex remediation agreements, water agreements, access agreements, and consent decrees.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute environmental remediation strategies.
  • Strong communication skills with experience providing updates to senior leadership.
  • Familiarity with environmental sustainability reporting and compliance obligations.
