What We're Seeking: DATCP currently has an opening for a Systems Administrator Team Lead (IS Technical Services Conslt/Admr) position with the Division of Management Services within the Bureau of Information Technology Services.

Where We're Located: The Prairie Oaks State Office Building is situated on Madison's southeast side. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations.

Telecommuting Option: This position may have the ability to telecommute. An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approval of the employee's telecommuting agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the department. Approved telecommuting locations must be within Wisconsin.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the IT Operations Manager, this advanced role serves as the technical team lead for the Systems Administrator team. The position is responsible for overseeing a broad range of server and system-level technical design, support, and maintenance tasks, as well as managing complex projects. This role handles escalated issues from the Systems Administrator team and provides expert-level technical guidance and support for agency technology projects and operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring system reliability and security and contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the agency's IT operations

In addition, this position participates in the evaluation of new IT products and projects, providing guidance on potential customer impact, security implications , costs, and risks associated with adopting new technologies.

Systems Administrator Team Lead Position Description

Salary Information

The classification of this position is IS Technical Service Conslt/Admr, which is in schedule-range 07-32 with a starting pay of $47.00 per hour up to $50.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Pay on appointment may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the compensation plan. Pay for current State employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.

A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.

Possession of a valid driver's license, or the ability to provide one's own transportation for work purposes, is required.

Limited travel with potential for overnight stays may be required.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:
  • Experience securing, administrating, and managing server hardware and software in a Microsoft Windows Server environment including managing internal and public facing web servers, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
  • Experience reviewing, troubleshooting, and resolving escalated requests within a ticketing system from different staff members.
  • Experience with cloud computing (Azure, AWS), virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix), and system monitoring tools.
In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:
  • Experience managing a Microsoft Dynamics CRM/AX system.
  • Experience leading an IT team, mentoring staff, or managing IT projects (directing the work of others, review work product of others, management of project timeline, etc).
  • Experience using automation tools (PowerShell, Power Automate) and applying cybersecurity best practices and disaster recovery strategies.
