The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The target starting salary range for this position is $85,000 - $96,000 based on education and experience. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but is not limited to:

Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

In this position you can expect to work on site at least 3 days per week at the Denver International Airport.

What You'll Do

DEN is future-focused and looking for talent that will be part of the team that plans improvements and development of DEN's facilities and infrastructure. The Planning and Design team is at the forefront of many exciting facilities and infrastructure projects at DEN. The Design team's purview includes Architectural & Interior Design, Space Planning & Allocation, and Wayfinding. We wear many hats on projects of different scales, from being the in-house designer and space planner to providing design reviews and managing design studies with consultants. The Design Team's Vision is to shape Denver International Airport's built environment through innovative design solutions that embody DEN's strategic vision of being "America's favorite connecting hub, where the Rocky Mountains meet the world".

The BIM Modeler will be a key participant in the DEN Space Management and Design workflow by using Building Information Technology (BIM) to track and represent spatial and architectural data as well as space allocation across DEN's multi-tenant, multi-purpose facility campus.

This work is performed by using BIM technology to support DEN Space Management processes using Digital Facilities and Infrastructure (DFI) standards and Industry best practices.

It entails the creation, tracking and distribution of space utilization data and models to and from other departments and processes including asset management, maintenance, operations, design, and construction processes.

Key Responsibilities:

BIM Coordination
  • Implement new CAD/Revit standards that have been established by the DFI and Planning & Design Department; suggest and assist in developing standards when appropriate for spatial data modeling and management.
  • Lead the BIM process and communicate with the Facilities space planning supervisor on a variety of CAD/Revit related issues and standards.
  • Develop and maintain Revit/CAD templates, FFE families and content.
  • Assist Planning and Design teams with advanced Revit modeling requirements, content creation, and coordination effort.
  • Provide Revit/BIM quality control of Planning and Design work output, including model maintenance, reviews, and application of best practices.


Space Utilization & Reporting:
  • Work with leadership to track space allocation, occupancies, and usage in BIM software.
  • Develop Space utilization data for use by DEN divisions such as Asset management, Maintenance and Operations as well as Tenants
  • Monitor space reallocation and design and construction projects in BIM software
  • Create exhibits for space allocations, ensuring the efficient use of available areas.


Lease Coordination:
  • Work with DEN's lease administrators to ensure alignment between space allocations and lease agreements.
  • Assist in negotiating and finalizing leases & space use by providing detailed data on space availability and utilization.


Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FFE) Coordination:
  • Have a strong understanding of 3D authoring software, a general understanding of how to model FFE, Architectural, MEP, Structural and Construction components.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of furniture in BIM, ensuring that assets are tracked and available for new projects or workspace reconfigurations.
  • Create project specific BIM Execution plans and lead the BIM implementation as defined by the plan for FFE.


Collaboration & Communication:
  • Act as BIM work liaison between internal departments, tenants, and external consultants as needed.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with stakeholders, providing updates on space assignments and inspections.


Compliance & Best Practices:
  • Ensure that all BIM activities are in compliance with DFI standards.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in BIM for space and furniture standards, and facility operations, recommending improvements where applicable.


Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a Building Information Modeling (BIM) platform for Facility campus, A/E or Construction firm and extensive knowledge in Autodesk REVIT.
  • Ability to coordinate A,M,E,P, and S system with FFE review, coordination, and resolution (Clash Detection).
  • Experienced and familiar with team-based delivery, contracting and the design-build process.
  • Demonstrates levels of proficiency or knowledge in the following software: Revit, AutoCAD Architecture, BlueBeam Extreme, Autodesk BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, other related software.
  • Microsoft excel advanced knowledge to create spreadsheets to account for all FFE throughout the facility campus DEN.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience working on multidisciplinary digital facilities and infrastructure or building information modeling projects.
  • Education and Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of posthigh school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • Licensure & Certification: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
