Job Description
Job Title: Echo Tech Registered

Job Specialty: Cardiac Diagnostics

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: 8-hour day shift, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (4x9's or 5x8 hours)

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience: One year of experience in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography), preferred

License: American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or via CCI as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required

Certifications: BLS (AHA) Required

Must-Have:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science (including, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) or graduate of a programmatically accredited program in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) strongly preferred
- Proficiency in English (speak, read, write)

Job Description:
- Provide specialized cardiovascular care while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort
- Perform and review a baseline patient assessment and evaluate patient response to diagnostic cardiac procedures
- Operate and maintain all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used for procedures
- Perform accurate and thorough echocardiograms as ordered by a physician
- Conduct specialized testing using computer-assisted devices, including TEE, Stress Echo, Pharmacological Stress Echo
- Cross-trained to perform EKGs, Treadmills, and Holter monitors as needed
- Maintain and review equipment, ensuring proper function and calibration
- Maintain high skill level through participation in continuous quality improvement, in-services, ongoing education, and attendance at staff meetings
- Provide on-call coverage outside standard scheduled hours as per department and facility policy
- Recognize and promptly act upon unusual results or patient response by informing the primary healthcare team to ensure patient safety and foster optimal outcomes
- Adapt approach based on patient/family level of understanding of test procedures
- Troubleshoot recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems that interfere with recordings
- Independently prioritize clinical and administrative work and identify process improvements
- Process patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests in accordance with hospital standards
- Floating may be required within specified locations or identified float zones and may include duties outside the original assignment job requirements
