About the Position:
The VP, IPP will plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the operation of the Lease Administration and Accounting Departments. Reporting to the President and CFO, the VP, IPP is accountable for the effective operation of the Property Administration and Accounting functions. The ideal candidate for this position is analytical, attentive, and efficient with self-assurance and has the ability to deliver precise information under strict deadlines and complete work skillfully with little to no direct supervision.

The VP, IPP will plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the operation of the Lease Administration and Accounting Departments. Key Functions and Responsibilities:
General Accounting
- Oversees, reviews, and approves the timely and accurate gathering, inputting, and reporting of property financial activities, performance, and resources, for a given portfolio to meet company and regulatory reporting requirements and provide information for decision making.
- Responsible for managing the Revenue and Receivables of the business.
Strategic Planning
- Acts as a key member of the senior management team and as an expert resource for their respective functional or site/office teams, providing input on complex technical and real estate issues for clients and staff, to better expedite projects and help influence strategic decision-making.
Relationships with Internal Stakeholders
- Develops collaborative relationships with various internal functions to ensure effective communication flow: information is shared and used in a timely manner to allow for a more efficient accounting process and business decision-making.
Accounting Conversion for New Properties
- Oversees the setup of new accounts for newly acquired or existing properties and property dispositions and follows up on outstanding property accounting issues to resolve any long-standing issues.
Budgeting
- Ensures the accounting component of the annual budgeting process for all properties is accurate, value-adding, and is completed within the required timelines.
Forecasting & Reporting
- Coordinates and directs the preparation of operational forecasts
- Administers and reviews all financial plans (Budgets and Forecasts) and compares them to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
Year-End and Audits
- Plans and manages the year-end audits, provides external auditors with the necessary documentation and support.
Continuous Improvement of Accounting Systems, Policies, and Procedures
- Oversees the design and implementation of systems/technical implementations to increase efficiencies and team effectiveness. Specifically, provide expert knowledge of Yardi to the team, including the operational and site staff.
- Ensures effective communication of new company policies and procedures to site locations and the accounting function, while reviewing existing policies and procedures to estimate their effectiveness and recommend revisions to ensure continuous improvement effort.
Management and Development of Staff
- Is directly or indirectly responsible for hiring, on-the-job training, managing, and coaching of Accounting Staff.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS),
- Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and CAD Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Expert level Yardi experience and other ERP systems
- Desire and ability to take full ownership of projects and produce high-quality work
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with a "hands-on" approach to managing the accounting function
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools in addition to
Education and Experience:
- 15+ years progressive experience in property accounting and the real estate industry - 10 years of which leading high-performance teams
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Business Administration, Commerce, Finance & Accounting)
- Must have CPA
