Position Overview:
The Finance Manager for Primal Optimization and Costing is a key role responsible for driving the Primal Optimization Review (POR) and Product Costing processes for the Beef Segment, in collaboration with the function's Finance Senior Manager. This role is responsible for driving value creation by synthesizing and analyzing data from multiple business units, such as Operations, Sales, Scheduling, and plant locations, to provide actionable insights that inform pricing and optimization strategies, as well as ensuring that our standards are properly maintained. This role offers a platform to shape and collaborate to drive financial strategies in collaboration with the Finance Senior Manager's strategic vision.

The successful candidate will be a possess strong analytical and leadership capabilities, critical thinking, and the ability to navigate dynamic, high-pressure environments while working independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver business value.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, leveraging expertise to influence high-level decision-making. Champion cross-department collaboration with Operations, Pricing, Sales, and Scheduling teams.
  • Strategic Alignment: Support the Finance Senior Manager in implementing division-wide financial strategies and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Process Ownership and Optimization: Establish and refine financial processes, ensuring they are robust, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices. Spearhead automation initiatives to elevate accuracy and streamline workflows.
  • Drive Data-Driven Insights and Automation: Utilize advanced analytical tools and automation technologies to deliver actionable insights into mix optimization and operational performance.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis and Initiative Support: Conduct ad hoc financial analyses to address emerging business questions or challenges. Provide strategic financial support for key business initiatives, ensuring data-backed recommendations to drive value creation and organizational alignment.
  • Maintain Product Costing Accuracy: Ensure accuracy in product costing files. Continuously improve costing models by integrating advanced technology and aligning with operational realities and market changes.
  • Lead Meetings: Lead Primal Optimization meetings, driving impactful discussions on key trends, outliers, and opportunities to improve mix and profitability. Leverage your expertise to influence business decisions at a senior level and ensure alignment with strategic financial objectives.


Requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • MBA or advanced financial certifications (CFA, etc.) are a plus.

Experience:
  • 7+ years of financial analysis experience, with demonstrated leadership in driving cross-functional collaboration and value creation. Ability to influence and drive value creation through data analysis and decision support.
  • Proven track record of influencing business transformation through process improvements, automation, and data-driven financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of pork and beef products or relevant industry experience is highly desirable.

  • Ability to adapt to evolving business needs and provide innovative solutions under the direction of the Finance Senior Manager.
  • Ability to think strategically and identify innovative solutions to drive process optimization, cost efficiency, and business growth.
  • Ability to simplify complex data and present insights to business leaders in a clear, compelling way.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills with a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and deliver results on time.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in product costing and pricing analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions. Experience with SQL, Tableau, and PowerBI is a plus and will be considered a strong asset. Familiarity with Tyson Fresh Meats yield systems is a plus but not required.
