Summary:

The Manager, Payroll Accounting is responsible for all payroll accounting related activities, including journalizing payroll along with providing completing reconciliations, creating financial reporting and analytics to clearly explain month over month changes. This role will collaborate internally and externally to drive process improvements and efficiencies. The Manager, Payroll Accounting serves as a key resource for payroll tax compliance, system enhancements, and audit processes. In addition to payroll accounting responsibilities, this role will participate in broader general accounting functions, including revenue recognition and intercompany allocations across the family of companies.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Deliver accurate and timely payroll journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting related to payroll activities.
  • Interact with the HR-Payroll team to resolve funding discrepancies, payroll notices, and inquiries.
  • Work closely with HR-Payroll to ensure accurate recording of variable pay accruals and payouts.
  • Collaborate with the payroll team to support any payroll inquiries, interanally or externally to ensure compliance.
  • Complete month- and quarter-end close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Apply, enforce, and execute GAAP revenue recognition policies across multiple entities.
  • Perform financial analysis to support reserves and other revenue and expense-related journal entries.
  • Clearly articulate results, variances, and demonstrate an understanding of root cause to management.
  • Apply professional skepticism and an inquisitive approach to review and analyze the appropriateness and reasonableness of underlying accounting principles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand company offerings and implement appropriate accounting models.
  • Streamline systems and reporting tools to ensure efficient & accurate recording and proper classification of revenue.
  • Participate in systems upgrades and enhancements as necessary.
  • Establish controls necessary to ensure that revenue forecasts, deferred revenue balances, and revenue accounting execution comply with company policy and GAAP.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • This is a hybrid position out of the Conshohocken, PA office.

  • This position has direct reports. Manages staff and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 6+ years of payroll accounting experience
  • Background in payroll accounting, revenue recognition, and intercompany allocations.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with payroll and financial systems such as ADP, Workday, or Oracle.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Experience managing payroll audits and implementing internal controls.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or CPA preferred.
