BlueLinx is expanding its focus on the business in the Chicago area by adding a Product Sales Manager to the team. This position will serve as the leader for products such as commercial cabinets and case work type sales and service for the Chicago Branch. This role has extensive knowledge, typically technical, depth and experience within assigned product groups and customer types. Works closely with local leadership, outside and inside sales representatives to support their customer base. Assists local managers, outside and inside sales representatives in all aspects of the sales process for the assigned product group and customer types focused on industrial applications to include identifying new opportunities; developing sales solutions; closing sales opportunities; negotiating pricing; determining addition products that support growth; providing outstanding customer service and follow-up. The ideal candidate will be in or around the Chicago area. This position will report directly to the Chicago Sales Manager and provide product and customer type synergies between all employees within the branch.

Responsibilities:
  • Understands the company's vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly
  • Works with regional leader, local managers, inside and outside sales representatives to identify new sales opportunities with new and existing customers for assigned product(s)
  • Improves profitability, product penetration, product mix, and inventory turns with all customers for assigned product(s) and customer types.
  • Will be responsible for selling large volumes of assigned product to targeted accounts in geographical area
  • Ensures effective product performance and gross margin results and promotes good customer/supplier relations
  • Assists industrial customers with sales and technical support for assigned products. Also, responsible for resolving all customer service issues related to assigned product
  • Develops sales solutions and competitive pricing strategies for assigned product(s)
  • Communicates value proposition to customers
  • Propose sales solutions to customers and reevaluate solutions where necessary (may work individually or in conjunction with leaders and sales representatives)
  • Provides product selection, product information, and pricing. Answers inventory and pricing questions for customers and sales. Builds out product selection with our vendors to enhance our inventory depth and breadth.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to travel regularly up to 60+%
  • BS / BA in related field or equivalent industry experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience in sales and industrial products
  • Working knowledge of assigned product line, customer support/service, market analysis, sales forecasting, products, pricing, and inventory management.
  • Possesses well developed consultative selling skills, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Negotiates prices, provides market updates, prospects, evaluating current and potential sales.

Benefits:
  • This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus and/or equity award each year.
  • $80,000-$100,000 per year
