JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

Manages all aspects of loan operations, ensuring efficient and compliant processing of loans, including staff management, process improvement, and adherence to regulations.

  • Proactive leader and team player with the ability to be influential and establish positive working relationships across the organization. Manages five team managers and a total staff of approximately 25 team members.
  • Establish and maintain an efficient and productive working environment within the department based on continuous and effective staff communication.
  • Effectively support the lending team for the bank and successfully interact with the lending staff to improve accuracies and efficiencies.
  • Learn, understand, and be a proficient leader in the loan systems and their development, including the core system, type codes, adjustments, etc.
  • Develop and implement best practices in loan operations related processes and procedures.
  • Integrate reports and systems into the lending team in order to support Service Beyond Expectations. Work with system providers to utilize applications to fullest capacity, streamlining processes and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Review updates to system and analyze, prepare, suggest training for system software on updates, and verify that enhancements are working correctly through all systems effected by information. Assist with all loan system parameters and design to meet the needs of multiple departments.
  • Achieve established departmental goals within defined timelines, as well as define and implement a measurement of acceptable staff performance in order to safeguard the Bank's loan portfolio.
  • Implement operation policies and procedures to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations and internal compliance requirements.
  • Ensure and maintain data integrity on the core system and other loan information systems and make corresponding changes when necessary and as appropriate.
  • Interact with auditors, loan review, compliance, and examiners to assist in Bank reviews and examinations. Follow up and correct any items addressed and ensure necessary changes or recommendations have been implemented as directed.

Other Duties
  • Research, test, customize, and implement software programs for commercial lending.
  • Export data from systems for use by other departments and ensure their accuracy and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Communicate with management team to coordinate system and control activities related to loan documentation and monitoring.
  • Evaluate current loan systems and FIS and implement changes as needed for efficiency and accuracy of the data.
  • Member of Loan Support Group/Email. Provide day-to-day system support for lending operations (including loan officers, loan assistants, loan review, credit & loan processing.)
  • Assisting with mergers as part of merger team and ensuring interfacing and mapping of loan data is completed in the most efficient and expeditious way.
  • Create a path for processing to separate from credit for clear reporting and audit lines. Perhaps in the future responsible for managing the Loan Processing Department, including Escrow, and manage the daily operations of the department in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment while delivering the highest level of customer service and accuracy.
  • Strong technical background with analytical skills, detail orientation, and proactive problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Advanced knowledge level of technology (this is a little vague).
  • Basic understanding of accounting and bank reporting requirements.
  • Detailed knowledge of lending products, including residential, commercial and consumer loans.
  • Demonstrated ability to digest complex issues and develop creative solutions.
  • Excels at collaborating with others at all levels to ensure organizational goals are attained.


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office setting, the opportunity to telework is not available. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Office environment with job duties conducted via telephone, face to face meetings, and on the computer.

Physical Demands

This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.

Travel

Limited local travel may be required for this position.

Education and Experience
  • Ten years of loan operations and compliance experience required.
  • Three years of staff management experience required. Experience managing other managers is a plus.
  • Four-year related degree, or equivalent additional related loan operations and management experience.
  • Experience with multiple bank data processing systems (FIS system experience preferred).
  • In depth experience with loan origination document software (such as LaserPro, FLO, etc.).
