The Director of Clinical Operations oversees and coordinates clinical activities across multiple outpatient imaging centers, ensuring high-quality imaging, patient safety, and professional standards of care. Works under the clinical direction of a Radiologist and administrative direction of the Executive Director of Operations to supervise clinical operations and staff.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Meet imaging operational standards by contributing clinical based information to strategic plans to ensure productivity, quality, patient-service standards, resolve problems, and identify system improvements.
- Maintain financial integrity of facility operations by analyzing expenses on a regular basis to determine problems areas, potential savings, and ways to reduce operating costs. Oversee costs in all areas, including but not limited to, personnel, equipment, contrast agents, radio pharmaceutical, medical supplies, and inventory. Review and analyze available financial reports and clinical personnel time reports, related to business plans and goals.
- Develop tools and methods to track and report relevant clinical key performance indicators (KPI's).
- Analysis of clinical staffing for appropriate coverage, resource, and schedule management. Responsible for control of overtime and thorough documentation of over utilization.
- Provide imaging services by supervising, directing, and coordinating diagnostic imaging procedures, and overseeing clinical staff in operation of all equipment.
- Responsible for assigning, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and communicating job expectations to assigned employees.
- Supervise, oversee, coordinate, and participate in all clinical operations, modality specifics, and technical personnel activities.
- Assist in recruiting and hiring all clinical staff, employee relations, employee facility assignments, orientation and training, and attainment of productivity goals.
- Hold clinical staff meetings on a regular basis and maintain open communication between management and staff.
- Implement process improvement solutions to solve business problems, use data analysis, and optimization tools to support strategic process improvement plans.
- Participate in meetings where objectives & performance goals are presented and approved.
- Build interdepartmental relationships to optimize workflow for savings opportunities, development of cost reducing strategies, and follow through implementation of changes.
- Develop plans, schedules, and budgets for projects to innovate existing processes.
- Confer with and provide input to the team members regarding employee job performance, morale, staffing, workflow, procedures, related personnel matters, and equipment performance.
- Prepare and/or monitor internal and external reports as required by managers, physicians' association and/or federal/state/local agencies and accrediting bodies in a timely manner.
- Supervise and oversee compliance with local, state, federal laws, regulation, ordinances, and accrediting bodies. Participate in on-site inspections by state and federal surveyors. Interpret rules and regulations applicable to those personnel assigned.
- Ensure that the facility's physical plant, including all equipment housed therein, is adequately maintained as required by law and the standards of Radiology Regional.
- Function as a liaison between organizations, patients, referrals, and departments to ensure open communication via staff and management during meetings, problems solving sessions, and participate on task forces/committees.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Associate's degree in radiologic technology or related field preferred
- 2 - 5 years diagnostic imaging management.
- Must possess current (ARRT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification. Certification in multiple ARRT registries is desirable.
- Must possess State of Florida certification to practice medical radiography.
- Must have completed required hours of continuing education per certification or annual period, to satisfy State of Florida and federal requirements.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as an imaging technologist.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in radiology management.
