Responsibilities Overview:
  • Create and document repeatable processes to configure SCADA system/subsystem components
  • Setup/confirm/program logic, control schemes, network and communication paths for Real-Time Automation Controllers (RTAC), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), PLC's, protective relays and other SCADA system equipment
  • Support corporate security assessments and external audits
  • Assist management review of incident response planning and implementation as well as the investigation and monitoring of security breaches
  • Coordinate closely with utility providers and electrical O&M vendors to support PV system troubleshooting by reviewing data files and event logs to identify issues with voltage, frequency, and other power quality problems associated with SCADA equipment, Power Plant Controllers, overcurrent device coordination and other.
  • Support the increase volume of assets, as well as new tool mandates, performance, communication and visibility of assets
  • Support the development team on new opportunities requiring SCADA systems, including developing and reviewing equipment requirements, functional specifications, and commissioning protocol.
  • Support the operations team to manage vendors that support the program and services
  • Develop and manage SCADA CapEx and OpEx budgets
  • Required to travel based on business need

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, information technology, computer science or related technical field
  • 5-7 years of experience in power systems engineering, with an independent power producer (IPP), utility and/or software development focused on generation, transmission, distribution and/or outage management
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with electric SCADA systems, including, but not limited to configuration/programming cellular routers, RTACs, RTUs, protection relays and related system peripherals
  • Hands-on experience configuring and testing SEL RTAC, RTUs, HMIs, or PLCs for SCADA systems
  • Experience with curtailment, zero-export control strategies with both utility and ISO interaction
  • Working knowledge in ISONE, MISO, NYISO, PJM and CAISO markets and their various telemetry requirements
  • Networking knowledge to support WAN and LAN device communication protocols (TCP/IP, Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, etc.)
  • Experience with Third-party vendor management
  • Experience with developing business cases and engaging stakeholders.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet multiple tight deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate positively and concisely with personnel at all levels of the corporation.
  • Experience with SEL Synchrowave software

Nice to Have
  • Experience remotely guiding onsite functions with Operations & Maintenance providers, electricians, field engineers, etc.
  • Working knowledge in Linux
  • Working knowledge with managed switches, firewalls in a power generation environment
  • Prior experience working on Solar Photovoltaic (PV) projects
