Job Summary
The Facilities Engineer will report to the Associate Director, Facilities & Calibration, performing activities in support of the operations in the Facilities Department. They will lead or assist in the planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and equipment within the Fremont facility. Ensure its safe and efficient operation by managing systems like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components, while also identifying areas for improvement and compliance with relevant regulations and building codes. A background in Facilities and GMP Records is essential to succeed in this role. Experience or familiarity with maintaining an ISO classified cleanroom envelope, trades such as plumbing and electrical, Validated HVAC, chilled water systems, and heating hot water systems is required.

CompensationThe annual base salary for this role starts at $120,000. Individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including, and without limitation, job-related skills, experience, work location, and relevant education or training. The initial base salary is just one component of Ferrer's total compensation and benefits package, which includes, but is not limited to, a discretionary bonus plan; life, health, accident, and disability insurance; and a 401(k) plan.

Responsibilities
- Manage the lifecycle process of GMP records for the department, such as change controls, deviations, CAPA, supplier assessments, calibration OOT, validation protocol creation/execution/final reports.
- Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, schedule repairs, and oversee maintenance contracts.
- Monitor energy consumption, identify potential issues with building systems, and implement energy efficiency improvements.
- Perform in-depth diagnostics, repairs, preventive maintenance, and modifications to Facilities and manufacturing equipment according to procedures and work instructions
- Develop and revise preventative maintenance Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions for new or existing equipment utilizing equipment knowledge, manufacturer's data, and industry requirements
- Oversee facility renovation projects, including design, budget, and contractor management.
- Ensure adherence to local building codes, OSHA safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with building systems like HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- Manage the Building Management System (BMS) and the Environmental Monitoring System (EMS); manage alarm and notification process, develop and monitor reports, monitor and trend change requests as needed
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, system performance, and compliance documentation.
- Work with other departments to address facility needs and coordinate maintenance activities.
- Back up Facilities Maintenance Mechanic's responsibilities in their absence.
- Alarm response may include after-hours notifications and onsite remediation.
Skills Required:
- Strong understanding of engineering principles related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems.
- Versatile in Quality Records such as Change Controls, Deviations, CAPA, as well as authoring and editing standard operating procedures
- Proficiency in building codes and regulations
- Project management skills
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer-aided design (CAD) software expertise is a plus
Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of relevant experience in facility maintenance and operations
- Certification in specific areas like HVAC, electrical, or plumbing may be beneficial
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Potentially prolonged periods of standing.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at times.
- Must be willing to travel.
