The candidate will be responsible for providing scientific and technical leadership to manage and execute process development and characterization activities that delivers oligonucleotide manufacturing processes to meet customer requirements. Accountable for the planning and execution of multi-step processes from laboratory to robust technical transfer for scale-up to GMP manufacturing. Emphasis is on the hands-on practical application of a full range of expertise in organic and process chemistry; both literature-based and theoretical concepts from a diverse range of chemically modified oligonucleotide technology, for the design, development and implementation of cost-effective processes. Provides innovative and continuous improvement of process and analytical concepts that drive value to the customer.

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $121,600.00 - $190,000.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for scientific and technical leadership of oligonucleotide process development and characterization to meet deliverables and achieve business commitments
- Accountable for planning, directing, and execution of the technical work of the oligonucleotide projects that may include process establishment, process optimization, intermediate sample production, reference standard production, and demonstration batch production on schedule and on budget.
- Design and conduct laboratory scale experiments in a safe and effective manner with expertise in operating lab-scale process and analytical instruments.
- Responsible for analysis and reporting of specific project data to facilitate the efficient development, tech-transfer, and implementation of oligonucleotide processes
- Conducts research and development to innovate and improve oligonucleotide manufacturing processes. Contribute knowledge and ideas for solving key process and operational challenges.
- Present technical summaries in business settings such as customer meetings, internal strategy or external conferences.
- Maintain process compliance integrity by adhering to standard operating procedures (SOP's) and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in chemistry, or related life sciences field
- 4+ years relevant life science experience for entry into this level; 7+ years of experience is preferred
- Ability to drive and lead process development projects
- Experience in planning and executing multi-step synthetic sequences using process chemistry and development knowledge in support of technical transfer for API production with experience in oligonucleotides or related synthetic materials
- Experience to present technical summaries in business settings such as customer meetings, internal strategy or external conferences
- Strong desire and positive attitude to work in multi-disciplinary teams, learn new skills and proactively solve problems
- Strong communication skills to understand project requirements, follow project timelines and responsibly deliver on commitments
