Smurfit Westrock has embarked on a Planning Transformation initiative, a multi-year program aligned goals to become the world's best paper and packaging company. The Sr. Project Manager position is a part of our Digital Business Systems Transformation team responsible for the o9 Planning workstream.

This role will serve as a trusted partner, advisor and thought leader on the future state technology landscape (ERP and legacy systems environment), and systems implementation.

This position will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, ensuring that timelines are met, budgets are managed, and the team and vendors are held accountable to deliver results. How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Project Management
  • Manage all aspects of the project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Ensure that project objectives are met within the specified time frame and budget.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.

Team and Vendor Management
  • Hold team members and vendors accountable to project timelines and deliverables.
  • Drive the onboarding and offboarding process for team members, ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive working environment.

Process Improvement
  • Lead efforts to capture best practices and lessons learned from each project cycle.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery.

Budget Management
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that expenditures align with project goals.
  • Monitor and control project costs to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders.


What you need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project management, with a focus on large scale projects or technology deployment.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification is preferred.
