Education Bachelor's degree is required. Graduate of Advanced Military Studies Program or equivalent Senior Service College is preferred.

Responsibilities:

The Strategic Planner performs specific planning requirements and collaborates with military and government personnel to accomplish tasks that support the long-range planning requirements of USCENTCOM. This includes

providing technical recommendations to joint planning teams and working groups regarding the Joint Operational Planning Process, Joint Operational Planning, Execution System, Exercise/Training Planning, and Joint

Doctrine.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide analyses and recommendations, for high-priority USCENTCOM implementation and planning efforts involving joint, interagency, and multinational partners and allies.
Provide support in the implementation and planning efforts of counterparts in USCENTCOM Component Commands, other key Combatant Commands, the Joint Staff, the Office of Secretary of Defense, and counterparts in other Federal departments and agencies.
Provide support and assistance to directed joint planning teams and working group with coordination between staff, and coalition and regional partner representatives for operations in the USCENTCOM AOR.
Provide analyses, recommendations, and draft products, for joint planning teams and working group approval in developing of orders, analyses, estimates, and briefings for USCENTCOM leadership and primary staff.
Conduct all aspects of the Joint Operational Planning Process including: Mission Analysis, Course of Action (COA) Development, COA Analysis (Wargaming), COA Comparison and Decision.
Conduct Plans and Order Development: Analyze COA decision, mission statement, commander's intent, and guidance to develop plans and/or orders that direct subordinate actions.
Conduct orderly handover of a plan into an order to those tasked with execution of the operation. Provide staffs with the situational awareness and rationale for key decisions necessary to ensure that there is a coherent transition from planning to execution. Continuously maintain running estimates that allow for plans and orders refinement.

Qualifications:

The candidate must have the following qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of planning experience with comprehensive knowledge of Joint Publication 5-0.
Experience in a military or civilian capacity at a Geographic or functional Combatant Command Headquarters.

Travel: Travel required to AOR.
