Job Summary

Provide functional and/or technical support for financial systems to ensure minimal interruptions to business functions. Research, identify and analyze current/potential production issues in order to recommend appropriate course of action to resolve them. Translate the business needs into functional system specifications. Act as a liaison, as PeopleSoft Financials Systems expert/project team lead, between the financial business owners, Information Technology Cluster (ITC) and third party vendors (such as Oracle, ADP, etc.) staff to implement changes or enhancements to new or existing financial systems.

Major Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and on-going user system functional support and guidance to financial system owners, users and ITC Division. Ensure timely and quality production support services to existing financial systems, including but not limited to PeopleSoft IFS (e.g. General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Expenses, Asset Management and Cash Management), Payroll and Investment Accounting. Research, identify and analyze existing production issues and draw on previous experience and recommend appropriate course of action to resolve the production issues. Work closely with the business owners and ITC staff in the resolution of production issues.
  • Provide advice to system owners in preparation of business cases for new financial systems or enhancements to existing ones by working closely with other affected stakeholders, consulting with other experts and examining existing policies, procedures and systems to obtain information required for appropriate documentation. Document and translate business requirements from the system owners to functional system specifications.
  • Work as Financial Systems expert during the life cycle of projects to implement changes and/or enhancements to financial systems. Monitor and provide ongoing updates on project progress, co-ordinate workflow, clarify issues, resolve problems and serve as central contact between team members, system owners and ITC to facilitate successful implementation. Identify required patches, service packs, new releases and upgrades to PeopleSoft and ADP systems in consultation with business owners and ITC staff for implementation.
  • Work with ITC Division to translate the functional system specifications into technical specifications. Review the technical specifications to ensure that planned financial system features or enhancements would meet systems owners' needs as defined in business requirements and functional system specifications.
  • Develop, prepare and execute financial system test plans, test cases and test scripts for system testing. The test plan describes the scope, approach and schedule of testing tasks. Identify the system features to be tested and develop associated test cases and test scripts including expected results.
  • Work with ITC Division and financial systems owners in the different phases of system testing which include:
    • Developing, preparing and executing financial system test plans, test cases and test scripts for system testing that describe the scope, approach, schedule of testing tasks and expected results;
    • Identifying and informing ITC of the appropriate system access required by users to perform User Acceptance Testing and ensuring the system environments for user testing are set-up appropriately;
    • Providing consultation and assisting users in the creation of test data;
    • Identifying and logging details of test defects that need investigation and system corrections;
    • Collaborating with ITC in the Investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of all test defects;
    • Following-up with ITC Division to ensure that system changes are implemented in a timely manner;
    • Coordinating with systems owners to perform the post-implementation review of the system changes;
    • Documenting ITC Division's solutions for the system discrepancies.
  • Act as user application security administrator for the ADP and Investment accounting applications in accordance with ITC security guidelines and procedures. User application security involves creating user id's and passwords, granting and monitoring user access, maintaining records of user system profiles, and resolving user access security related problems.
  • Create comprehensive custom reports and reporting for financial systems users to meet daily operational needs.
  • Develop training and educational materials and documentation. Deliver train-the-trainer information sessions on significant system process changes to provide trainers with information to train staff in their area.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.


  • Job Requirements

    Education:
    • University completion at undergraduate level with a specialty focus in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics.

    Experience:
    • Fours years prior experience in large scale Enterprise Resource Planning financial systems (e.g. PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle Financials, Workday, etc.), production support (incident management), business systems analysis, quality assurance, testing or programming.
