Job Description
Job Title: Medical Doctor

Job Specialty: General Surgery

Job Duration: 7 Months

Shift: Day 8 On-call, Monday 7 a.m. to the following Monday 7 a.m. Approximately 1 week of call per month. 5x8 Hr

Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 hours per week

Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified

License: Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate with no restrictions

Certifications: ABMS or AOA Board Certified within 3 years of completing the residency training program. If a fellowship has been completed, must become board certified within 3 years of completion to practice in that specialty.

Must-Have:
- Completion of MD, DO, or equivalent international training program
- Completion of ACGME or AOA-approved residency program

Job Description:

- Accountable for the provision of patient care and activities as permitted by licensure and defined within Credentialing and Privileging documentation, Credentialing and Scope of Practice, and Consultation and Referral Plans.
- Deliver optimal patient care through effective clinical practice; educate patients, families, clinical staff, and others; consult with other healthcare providers; and maintain current knowledge regarding options for patient care and outcomes.
- Perform patient assessments to obtain complete and accurate clinical information and medical symptoms. Order tests and exams to ensure proper care.
- Diagnose patient needs, determine a plan of care, and interpret patient care tests and exams to guide care.
- Provide patient treatment (and oversee treatment provided by others) including prescriptive practice to achieve clinical outcomes. Utilize specialty knowledge to ensure appropriate, effective, timely, and cost-efficient care.
- Perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or procedural care as defined by Scope of Practice.
- Ensure appropriate and timely documentation of clinical care. Code and bill accurately per established protocol. Maintain detailed and complete records, complying with standards and regulations.
- Conduct or coordinate education to increase the knowledge of patients, families, and others, providing instruction to support the continuum of care. Train staff in areas of expertise and teach students to increase clinical knowledge and ensure safe patient care.
- Stay informed of healthcare practice trends and participate in continuing medical education for optimal clinical knowledge and skills.
- Coordinate and collaborate patient care efforts with other providers. Communicate clinical information clearly and accurately.
- May collaborate with other providers to share practice expertise.
- May participate in research and use evidence-based practice to promote quality care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards.
- Support professional development through research processes.
