Position Title: Public Affairs Vice President
Total Compensation: $122,000 - $168,000
Breakdown:
Salary Range (*includes health insurance, bonus, retirement, etc.): $95,000 - $135,000
Fringe Benets (*includes health insurance, bonus, retirement, etc.): $28,000 - $33,000
Commission (*based on percentage of new accounts signed): 10% - 20% in addition to total compensation
Duties:
- Serve as account lead
- Draft policy position papers, strategy memos, media materials, and social media posts
- Communicate with elected officials offices, media, and key opinion influencers
- Educate and organize advocates to support client policy initiatives.
- Support senior management on accounts
- Manage multiple support staff to execute client initiatives
- Engage in business development
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in advocacy, public affairs, government affairs, and/or politics
- Professional maturity and strategic insight to lead high-demand client accounts
- Understanding of state and federal government and legislative processes is required
- Following and being able to discuss politics, government, and current events is essential
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Creativity and adaptability in tackling obstacles
- Must be proficient in internet research, Google Business Suite, Microsoft Teams/Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Zoom, social media platforms
- Quickly able to learn new technology such as bill tracking, media tracking, and contacts database
- Education: Bachelors degree or higher
Hours: Monday Friday 9:00am 5:30pm. Employees must be available to clients and JS staff during these hours. Employee will periodically be expected to be responsive to client and management requests outside of these hours. Employee must be flexible to work on nights and weekends as occasionally needed.
Travel: Local and interstate travel for meetings and conferences
Location: Majority work from home (WFH). Candidates preferred who are based in NY, NJ, MA.
WFH Policy: Employee working from home must conform to regular business hours without any restrictions. This includes working at ones computer and availability for all in-person requests. Employee is expected to respond to all work-related communications promptly and fully participate in conference calls and video meetings in a professional home setting. When working from home or at the office, boundaries between work and personal communications/tasks should be kept. Changes may be requested in advance and are not guaranteed. Approval is determined based upon, but not limited to, seniority, professional reliability, accommodations for health/caregiving, ADA compliance, and other legally protected employee rights. Any employee who cannot work full-time will be subject to a corresponding salary adjustment.
