Under general supervision of the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and following established policies, procedures, professional guidelines and applicable State and Federal employment laws, the Vice President (VP) develops and implements short- and long-term strategic goals and policies for department. The VP develops and monitors fiscal year budgets for areas of responsibility, assures department Directors and Managers effectively organize and manage their divisions. The VP directs the design and establishment of appropriate management control procedures including but not limited to, records maintenance, authorization procedures, report distribution, staff selection and retention and formal and informal staff performance enhancement coaching. The VP assures compliance with regulatory agency standards and maintains professional affiliations. Demonstrates ability to interview, hire, schedule, assign work to and evaluate the work performance of employees supervised. Areas of responsibility include, general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, capital management, non-patient billing, treasury/debt management, tax and compliance filings, subsidiary accounting, consolidation, and financial and statical analytics. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

  • Minimum ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience required, seven (7) of those years in Management. A candidate with a master's degree in a Finance related field is not required to have a CPA.
  • Demonstrates current knowledge and level of expertise required to oversee all accounting, revenue management, capital management and financial reporting activities throughout the hospital.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP), information systems applications for accounting and financial reporting, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to analyze financial and operational information to identify relevant trends and initiate action.
  • Demonstrated ability to work through complex problems collaboratively with all levels of the organization and to recommend and implement creative solutions.
  • Excellent project management skills are required.
  • Ability to array data in an informative and user-friendly manner, explain trends and variances in a way that is compelling for operators.
  • Outstanding knowledge of GAAP, single audit, treasury management, federal income tax rules and regulations, and systems applications for accounting and financial reporting.
  • Familiar with labor benchmarking and productivity.
  • Financial technical expertise with financial statements, budgets, project planning, and balance sheets.
  • Outstanding people skills and demonstrated ability to work through others.
  • Experience leading financial teams in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Ability to hire, train, and mentor financial and operating teams.
  • Oversees general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, capital accounting, grants management, non-patient billing, treasury related accounting and debt management, tax and compliance filings, subsidiary accounting, including consolidation, financial and statistical analytics and reporting.
  • Develops and leads a high-performing finance team, building a skilled and motivated team that contributes effectively to the financial success of the organization.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of upcoming accounting, compliance and financial reporting changes.
  • Responsible for financial portion of the monthly management operating report out for the TGH Main campus.
  • Directs and coordinates the establishment and maintenance of integrated accounting systems and policies throughout TGH Main operations.
