Job Summary

*This is a Limited Appointment position*

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

Under the direction of the Children's Hospital Access Center Manager, the Access Center Nurse is responsible and accountable for coordinating optimal, safe, effective and timely urgent and emergent transports of critically ill infants, children and high-risk obstetric patients to UCSF Children's Hospital for specialized care. The Access Center Nurse will triage, coordinate and dispatch inter-facility transport calls while providing quality customer focused service. The Access Center nurse will act as liaison between referring and UCSF Physicians, Nursing, Transport Teams, Central Patient Placement, the BCH Nurse Supervisor, financial counseling and admitting to facilitate admissions in a timely manner.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a pediatric or neonatal intensive care unit; and
  • One (1) or more years of recent Access Center RN experience; and
  • Two (2) or more years of experience as a Charge and/or Triage Nurse in a pediatric or neonatal ICU setting.
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Experience with Epic/Apex.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of available modes of patient transport.
  • Experience with Microsoft computer applications, specifically Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.


License/Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
