ProMedica Toledo Hospital is one of the largest acute-care facilities in the region. Our 794-bed hospital is staffed by more than 4,800 professional healthcare employees who serve a 27-county area throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the VP and Chief Pharmacy Officer, the Director of Pharmacy Informatics, Automation, and Technology manages all pharmacy medication-use technologies, including pharmacy informatics, automation, and work process analytics. This position oversees pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy residents, and support staff dedicated to system-wide technology initiatives. Direct Reports: Leaders and staff responsible for pharmacy informatics, pharmacy automation, and technologies.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides leadership and oversight for pharmacy informatics, technology, and automation across the ProMedica system. The System Director of Pharmacy Informatics, Automation, and Technology will collaborate closely with the Willow team and other pharmacy leaders to implement, maintain, and optimize medication-use technologies and automation. The position emphasizes enhancing clinical effectiveness, supporting financial goals, and improving operational efficiency. Responsibilities include project management, compliance, quality assurance, and professional development for staff and pharmacy learners.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Development and Management of Department or Program Across the Pharmacy Enterprise
Lead the development, implementation, and management of pharmacy medication-use systems (e.g., EHR, automation, analytics) across the ProMedica system.
Supervise pharmacy informatics teams, optimizing information systems to improve performance, safety, and operational efficiency.
Guide the Willow team and other informatics teams to align activities with organizational goals and objectives.
Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and address evolving technological needs, ensuring systems are aligned with enterprise priorities.
Establish and maintain cross-functional communication to enhance integration, innovation, and continuous improvement in pharmacy informatics and automation.
Monitor and ensure the successful execution of projects within established timeframes.
2. Financial Management and Budgetary Oversight
Assist with the development of IT-related budget plans and ensure financial alignment with departmental and organizational goals.
Monitor and analyze program budgets and expenditures, ensuring fiscal responsibility and adherence to budget targets.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and resource optimization through strategic technology investments and process improvements.
Provide oversight for invoice processing, technology-related contracts, and procurement for pharmacy informatics and automation needs.
Develop and monitor performance metrics to track financial performance and inform budgetary decisions.
3. Management Responsibilities as a Senior Leader
Manage and supervise pharmacy informatics, automation, and technology staff, ensuring alignment with ProMedica's strategic and operational goals.
Provide transformational leadership by recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing team members, fostering a culture of accountability and success.
Set performance standards for direct reports, recognizing high achievers, and addressing performance gaps with corrective actions, as necessary.
Develop and implement training programs to enhance the technical and operational skills of staff.
Support pharmacy learners and residency programs through mentoring, program assessment, and recruitment.
4. Job-Specific Accountabilities
Ensure compliance with regulations and standards, including USP, Joint Commission, and relevant federal, state, and local laws related to pharmacy technology.
Act as a pharmacy liaison for interdisciplinary teams (e.g., IT, nursing, finance, and clinical providers) to ensure optimal integration of pharmacy technologies.
Collaborate with hospital-based pharmacy directors and other leaders to drive innovation and efficiency across the pharmacy enterprise.
Lead or participate in organizational quality improvement initiatives and serve on pharmacy informatics and automation committees.
Implement policies and procedures that support efficient pharmacy informatics operations and promote system integration.
5. Development and Execution of Department and Organization Strategies, Goals, and Business Objectives
Align pharmacy informatics and automation services with ProMedica's strategic goals, focusing on clinical quality, patient safety, financial sustainability, and operational excellence.
Develop short-term and long-term strategic plans that drive innovation, growth, and continuous improvement in pharmacy informatics and automation.
Lead efforts to develop departmental goals and performance benchmarks, ensuring alignment with broader institutional and system-wide objectives.
Actively participate in quality assurance and compliance programs to meet or exceed regulatory and accreditation standards.
Provide ongoing reporting on strategic progress and identify key opportunities to enhance pharmacy services through technology.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: PharmD degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills. Expertise in pharmacy informatics and operations management. Proven ability to supervise, develop, and retain a high-performing team. Knowledge of data analytics and automation tools to support performance optimization.
Years of Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in health system pharmacy informatics or operations. At least 1 year of experience in a management or supervisory role.
License: Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the states of Ohio and Michigan.
Certification: Epic certification in areas such as Willow IP, Willow Ambulatory, or Beacon (or required to obtain within 1 year of hire).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master's degree in pharmacy administration, healthcare administration, or business or computer science. Completion of an accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residency in health-system pharmacy administration and leadership.
Skills: Project Management and diverse knowledge of pharmacy automation and technology.
Years of Experience: 5 - 10 years of experience in health-system management or leading a pharmacy informatics team.
License: N/A
Certification: Epic certifications in areas such as Willow IP, Willow Ambulatory, or Beacon.
