Duties and Responsibilities:

As a key member of our Cloud Services team, you will work closely with developers and engineers to optimize performance, enhance security, and drive operational excellence.
  • Design, build, and maintain Kubernetes clusters on AWS (EKS) for high availability and scalability.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Implement workflows to deploy Kubernetes resources with Helm, and Kustomize.
  • Automate CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Jenkins to streamline application deployment.
  • Monitor and optimize performance and infrastructure using Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic.co
  • Bring best practices for alarms and on-call rotation.
  • Implement security best practices, including IAM roles, RBAC policies, and network security configurations.
  • Troubleshoot performance and networking issues in cloud-native environments.
  • Improve system reliability through observability, logging, and alerting strategies.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to enable best practices for cloud-native applications.
  • Implement and document backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies for critical workloads.
  • Promote SRE principles, automation, and DevOps culture across the organization.
  • Clearly document and communicate services, components, pipelines, routes and networking, and other relationships and definitions of the infrastructure and deployments.

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to Director of Cloud Services and is a member of the Cloud Services Team as well as the broader BioLife engineering team.

Job Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering roles.
  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes (EKS preferred), including deployment, scaling, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, ALB/NLB, Route 53, etc.).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
  • CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, and similar tools
  • Deep understanding of networking, security best practices, and RBAC in Kubernetes
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools, preferring Prometheus, Grafana, and Elastic Cloud
  • Experience with container security and compliance (CSA, Falco, Aqua, Trivy, AWS Security Hub)
  • Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems and optimize cloud-based applications.
  • Excellent Communication and Documentation Skills
  • Implement, support, and participate in on-call services (PagerDuty)
  • Perform gap analysis to identify performance enhancements, identify alternative solutions, and assist with modifications

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional certification
  • Kubernetes certification (CKA, CKAD, or CKS)
  • Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, SNS/SQS, or EventBridge)
  • Experience with GitOps principles and tools like GitHub Actions or ArgoCD
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, Redis, Celery, RabbitMQ, Django, REST frameworks highly encouraged
  • Knowledge of multi-cloud strategies and hybrid cloud deployments
  • Background in observability-driven development
  • Knowledge of and experience with regulatory requirements and best practices, including FDA 21 CFR Part 11, cGMP, ISO/IEC 27001

The US base salary range for this position at full-time is $107,609 - $172,175 per year. Our salary ranges are determined by position, level, location, and market competitive benchmarks. Individual pay within a level is determined by work location (including geographic pay zone region), job related skills, experience, education, and training. This range represents the full compensation range for this position, with consideration given to experience, skills, and qualifications. Typically, new hires are brought in at or near the midpoint of the range to allow for future growth and advancement within the role.
