Job Overview

The Director of Diagnostic and Prevention Services provides the leadership and direction for all student services through the multi-tiered system of support framework. The Office for Diagnostic and Prevention Services is responsible for ensuring the overall coordination and implementation of evidence-based programs and services delivered by the school teams in the areas of Eligibility, Early Childhood Identification, Section 504, Multi-Tiered System of Supports, and Threat Assessment.

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.
  • Provides leadership and supervision for the Office for Diagnostic and Prevention Services to ensure effective implementation and integration of evidenced-based practices and services.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal and state requirements to include oversight and direction for the data collection and auditing of related state reports.
  • Works collaboratively with the Office of Special Education to ensure continuity of practice and application of eligibility information into the Individualized Education Plan process for students and families.
  • Evaluates, provides leadership and oversight for Supervisors within the Department of Student Support Services who are responsible for Eligibility Coordinators and Educational Diagnosticians.
  • Provide oversight of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports program to include Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, Response to Intervention, and Social-Emotional Learning.
  • Coordinates the development of the budget for all areas within the Office of Diagnostic and Prevention Services, approves expenditures and provides fiscal management oversight.


Qualifications

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

Education

Master's degree from an accredited university or college

Experience

Six years of experience in public school education, with progressively responsible experience as an administrator in programs that support the provision of direct services to students.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and tracking budgets
  • Knowledge of state and federal statutes, regulations, and rules relating to Special Education, Section 504, instruction, curriculum, student learning and ability to advise interested parties of the provisions of the laws
  • Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Demonstrate the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with administrators, students, parents, staff, and public

Salary Range:$143,632 - $222,009
