Brown & Brown is seeking a Financial Analyst and Underwriter to join our growing team in Rocky Hill, CT!

The Financial Analyst and Underwriter is at an advanced level of knowledge / difficulty and works with minimal supervisory direction but will report to a team leader. Work in this position consists primarily of routine and non-routine scenarios involving the need to determine the acceptability of risk factors on behalf of the carrier. Commonly negotiates coverage offered and pricing.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Review new business details to ensure accuracy and identify opportunities for additional coverage or underwriting actions.


  • Recommend the acceptance or declination of marketing results based on evaluation of carrier proposals and customer information.


  • Create and maintain reporting packages, customer files, and routine correspondence with carriers and clients.


  • Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and workflow.


  • Analyze and prepare financial reporting packages (e.g., post-renewal, mid-year, pre-renewal, renewal), including claims utilization, trend analysis, and financial projections.


  • Design and recommend alternative strategies, plan modeling, and cost-reduction opportunities tailored to client needs.


  • Act as the primary contact with insurance carriers for new business quotes and renewals, managing negotiations and preparing renewal options with executive summaries.


  • Collaborate with the Service Team to align client strategic objectives with proactive solutions and ensure timely delivery of deliverables.


  • Serve as a subject matter expert, maintaining an analytical skill set and providing guidance to team members.


  • Assist in team development by contributing to standards, processes, and training of junior team members; participate in sales presentations for target clients.


Licenses and Certifications:

  • Insurance Producer license in good standing (authorities in states needed to service the assigned book of business)


Skills & Experience to Be Successful:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of operational experience within the insurance and/or benefits industry with more than 5 years of consulting within the insurance and/or benefits industry


  • High School diploma Insurance Producer license in good standing (authorities in states needed to service the assigned book of business)


  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)


  • Proficient with MS Office Suite


  • Exceptional telephone demeanor


  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality


  • Willingness to obtain Insurance Producer license (authorities in states needed to service the assigned book of business) within first year of employment.


  • This position requires routine or periodic travel which may require the team member to drive their own vehicle or a rental vehicle. Acceptable results of a Motor Vehicle Record report at the time of hire and periodically thereafter, and maintenance of minimum acceptable insurance coverages are a requirement of this position.

Pay Range
$80,000 - $90,000 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
