About the Team:

Digital Assets Research

The Digital Assets Research Investment Director (ID) will be a member of a global team which is responsible for 1) identifying trends related to investing in blockchain strategies; 2) identifying and conducting research on high-quality investment firms and products in blockchain; 3) monitoring firms that are investing on behalf of our clients; and 4) acting as a resource for the firm's client teams. The ID will gather, analyze, and disseminate information regarding all aspects of digital assets investments, strategies, and managers. In this role, the ID should possess expertise in liquid tokens and blockchain technologies, with an understanding of Venture Capital and Hedge Funds.

The Opportunity

The Investment Director (ID) will help lead ongoing efforts to integrate digital assets initiatives across the firm, marketing and business development, developing and coordinating relevant thematic research, and supporting clients with relevant requests. This individual will also be an external advocate that actively manages the firm's relationships with asset managers. To effectively execute the responsibilities of the role, the ID will work closely with the Head of Digital Assets Research to develop content and enhance the firm's external presence.

What You'll Do:
  • Conduct due diligence on digital asset managers that best meet the needs, performance objectives, and risk tolerance of the firm's clients, regardless of fund structure, which could include long-only, open-ended, and closed-ended structures. Analyze fund's organization, investment strategy, performance, terms, current portfolio positions, and other key attributes. Participate in meetings, sometimes onsite, and conduct reference calls with industry participants. Support investment directors in developing the house opinion on managers.
  • Complete written research used by clients and colleagues to support investment decisions. This includes concise commentaries summarizing meetings with fund managers and annual general meetings, in-depth due diligence reports, and other periodic research pieces.
  • Develop and maintain internal content related to digital asset investing, which could include business development and training materials as well as other operational or analytical tasks.
  • Serve as a resource to client teams seeking information on digital assets and evolving trends in the market.
  • Attend and represent the firm at industry conferences and annual general meetings when appropriate.


  • Lead additional thematic projects, such as published research reports and presentations, which enhance colleagues' and clients' knowledge of relevant topics.
  • Present primarily to internal audiences to share research findings and investment ideas.
  • May contribute to VC and/or Hedge Fund research on an ad hoc basis.


What You Bring:
BA/BS required. MBA and / or CFA strongly preferred.
5 years of investment experience, preferably in Crypto, VC, or Hedge Fund research. Deep level of expertise in crypto strategies.
Strong manager relationship skills, including the ability to develop new relationships, and to reinforce existing relationships.
Prior experience conducting fund due diligence and writing due diligence reports; with references able to attest to judgment.
Outstanding presentation skills.
Demonstrated analytical skills, strong written and oral communication skills. Experience in negotiations.
Demonstrated skills with Excel.
Experience with on-chain analytics and crypto-related research sources preferred.
Ability to drive the project management process, providing clear direction and managing deadlines, workflow, and quality control for projects.
Strong attention to detail and ability to think independently and work with a team.
Willingness to travel up to 25% time.
