POSITION SUMMARY
Under supervision, the incumbent at this level receives "on-the-job" training in various phases of engineering through specific assignments under close supervision. Tasks are routine in nature to provide experience and familiarization with the staff, engineering methods, practices, and programs of the company. Work is reviewed for accuracy, adequacy and conformance with prescribed procedures.
The Engineer I will aid the Reliability Supervisor in monitoring plant rotating equipment and in providing recommendations for repair or improvement. Assignments will include day-to-day support of rotating equipment issues encountered by the operations and maintenance teams, small project design to increase reliability of rotating equipment assets, and contributions to planning and the development of maintenance strategies for equipment to optimize maintenance activities and reduce downtime.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 0-2 years of relevant work experience required.
- College engineering internship preferred, oil & gas or chemical processing internship highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical principles, troubleshooting, and collaborative skills required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office software packages, including Excel, required.
- Demonstrated competencies of priority setting and organizational agility.
- Demonstrated competencies of developing peer relations, participating as a team member and leading others.
- Ability to analyze, reason and solve increasingly complex problems.
- Desire to work in a manufacturing environment and to address mechanical issues.
- Fluent in English, oral and written required.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide rotating equipment support to maintenance and operations activities.
- Complete condition monitoring activities that are both planned and on an ad-hoc basis.
- Key assignments will include daily monitoring and troubleshooting of rotating equipment, defect identification & elimination, design and development of capital projects.
- Work in a team environment with operators, mechanics, specialists, and other engineers to maintain and troubleshoot problems as well as propose improvements for the rotating equipment.
- Work directly with drafting and other engineers on small project scopes in order to receive appropriate design and size of equipment needed.
- Assist in the planning of unit shutdowns and startups. Administer plant performance test runs as needed, provide any operational data or drawings required to vendors or maintenance if needed.
- Track reliability data using spreadsheets. Demonstrate a logical process to gather and utilize the data.
- Provide support to Technical on capital projects.
- Research and monitor upcoming technology changes to improve future strategies within the plant.
- Provide after hours and turnaround (12 hr shift) support as needed in support of maintenance and operations.
- Ability to adjust to frequent change and adjust schedule as needed to reach departmental goals.
- Consistently keep supervisor advised of progress via oral and written reports.
- Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.
