POSITION OVERVIEW: We are looking for Lead Network Engineer for supporting Department of Navy in Annapolis Junction, MD. You will be responsible for supporting a global communications network that delivers office automation solutions, document and information management tools, and collaboration, voice, and video capabilities. This secure, flexible, distributed architecture underpins a classified DoD IT system. You will contribute to designing and upgrading the network infrastructure across a large-scale enterprise IT program.

- Review and analyze the existing network architecture and provide designs of current/modern WAN/MAN/LAN technologies
- Recommend best practices such as SDN, Intent-based networking, network segmentation protocols, etc., to improve the existing architecture and meet new networking requirements
- Design telecommunications circuit specifications
- Identify the need for routers, switches, and encryption devices to support enterprise services
- Deliver service catalog items for automatically provisioning network configurations to deliver Infrastructure-as-Code
- Develop and maintain network architecture specifications and artifacts
- Designs and plans network communications systems
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
- Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
- Conducts testing of network design
- Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure proper configuration options are set
- Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network
- dvises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations
- Maintains technical expertise in all network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing areas, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
- Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance the network's capabilities
MUST HAVE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3 years of Cisco experience; proven expertise with Cisco network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, unified communications equipment.
- Proven experience in VMware environments.
- Proven experience in virtual and physical Internet Protocol, Fiber Channel networks, and routing protocols.
- Proven experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, and low bandwidth networks protected by network encryptors.
- TS/SCI level clearance is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with a BS/BA, 6 years with an MS/MA, or 3 years with a PhD; alternatively, 4 years of additional work experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 3 years of Cisco experience; proven expertise with Cisco network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, unified communications equipment
- Proven experience in VMware environments

CERTIFICATIONS:
- Information Assurance Certifications consistent with the 8570 IAT Level III
- Professional Certification in Cisco, VMware, and/or ITIL is desired
