Virginia ABC is currently seeking applicants for a Contract Attorney. This position provides legal counsel and assistance in negotiating, drafting, reviewing lease agreements and/or purchase and sales agreements for retail ABC stores and enforcement offices across the Commonwealth. This role is also responsible for researching and analyzing zoning ordinances and other state and local requirements for commercial real estate. Additionally, this position works closely with the Procurement Division to review solicitations for goods and services; advising on issues relating to contract management, contract disputes, technology and technology related procurement. This position will also provide general counsel and guidance to other business units within the Authority as needed.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provides legal counsel and assistance in negotiating, drafting and reviewing lease agreements and contracts for the Authority.
- Assists the Real Estate and Facilities divisions by drafting and reviewing their lease agreements; ensuring that our properties are in compliance with industry code (i.e. air quality; soil contaminations; mold/asbestos; safety).
- Assists the Procurement Division with drafting and reviewing contracts for the procurement of goods.
- Provides legal guidance throughout the entire contract process.
- Provides contract review to other divisions in the Authority.
- Coordinates with Senior Legal Counsel to review very large contracts (either in scope or cost) or when complex issues arise.
- Advises on issues related to contract management, contract disputes and technology issues.
- Advises Authority staff and executives on a variety of contract-related legal compliance matters.
- Provides interpretation and guidance on laws, rulings, regulations and compliance for various transactions
- Assists in providing legal assistance to other business units within the Authority as needed.
- Represents Virginia ABC in contract dispute proceedings including appearances in various courts and administrative hearings.
- Graduation from an accredited law school at the time of application.
- Licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia at the time of application.
- 3 years of legal experience drafting contracts, lease agreements and other agreements or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
