Description:
The Technical Facilities Project Manager leads complex design and construction projects ($5K-$10MM+) in Amazon's corporate facilities. This role supports Amazon's expansion into aerospace, life sciences, robotics, quantum computing, devices, and government industry sectors by managing new construction, renovations, and facility modifications. The position is part of Amazon's Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) organization with a dotted line to one of Amazon's businesses.
Key job responsibilities
Execute technically complex capital projects from inception to completion
Drive project intake, planning, and delivery for corporate facilities in their assigned location; potential exists to expand responsibilities across multiple sites
Coordinate with key stakeholders including EH&S, IT, AV, Security, Sustainability, Procurement, Legal, Tax, Compliance, and Finance teams
Responsible for documenting project parameters and accountable for quality, cost, and timely delivery
Direct architects, design consultants (MEP, structural, acoustic, security, etc), contractors, and facilities managers to ensure decisions are made at the appropriate level and Amazon's priorities are always the driving factor
Identify and recommend project requirement gathering, delivery, and reporting process improvements
Participate in new facility due diligence and site selection processes
Manage design elements including specialty equipment, infrastructure, space-plans, and finishes
Oversee construction processes including contractor selection, contract negotiations, budget approvals, invoice/pay application reviews, change orders, and schedule creation/maintenance
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
8+ years of professional experience in construction/engineering project management, real estate development, or architecture/design
Demonstrated experience with commercial contracts and lease structures
Track record of managing multiple concurrent and technically complex (R&D, manufacturing, SCIF, BSL, ISO) projects
Proven expertise in sourcing/procurement, vendor management, value engineering, budget/schedule management, and MEP systems
Advanced Microsoft Project proficiency
Strong communication skills with ability to convey complex project strategies, status updates, and escalations to stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline OR additional 5+ years of relevant professional experience
- Experience working in technical engineering, manufacturing, or government (DoD, IC, DoS, etc) environments
- PMI certification
- Experience with sustainable building practices
