Manages a small team dedicated to these initiatives.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees the-to-day management of the investment securities portfolio, wholesale funding portfolios, and other capital markets related activities within the purview of Corporate Treasury.
- Supports overall Balance Sheet management initiatives, including monitoring both industry and Synovus balance sheet trends to provide recommendations on strategic positioning opportunities.
- Manages the liquidity position of the company, including compliance with various liquidity risk metrics and regulatory standards (i.e., Regs YY and SR 10-6).
- Provides reporting on liquidity risk on an on-going basis to executive-level committees as well as developing and implementing strategies to ensure liquidity is managed in accordance with limits and enterprise risk tolerance levels.
- Manages the annual performance management and merit processes for direct and indirect reports. Coaches and develops team members and builds a work environment where team members are engaged and feel a positive sense of achievement about their role in the company. Works closely with Human Resources regarding employee relations, compensation, training, posting and filling vacant positions and other Human Resources related matters.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience:
- Ten years of relevant experience including managing capital markets activities, bank liquidity and/or funding responsibilities within the Corporate Treasury function, managing relevant fixed-income portfolios, and/or serving in a role which focused on balance sheet optimization activities (particularly if coupled with associated liquidity impacts).
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Advanced understanding of capital markets and debt transactions, interest rates, management of fixed-income assets and/or liabilities
- Familiarity with relevant liquidity regulations including Reg YY and SR 10-6
- Understanding of bank liquidity processes
- Strong understanding of bank balance sheets
- Attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Problem solving skills with ability to answer abstract
- Ability to assess and manage risks, and communicate to relevant stakeholders
