Regional Sales & Commercial Manager

Starting base salary of 150K - 185K plus bonus depending on experience.

Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive.

Summary: Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Regional Sales & Commercial Manager is responsible for driving top-line growth within their assigned region(s). The person in this position is responsible for all sales and commercial activities within their region(s), creating strategy in partnership with their Vice President and driving a high-performing team to support that strategy. The Regional Sales & Commercial Manager drives the region's pricing strategy. They work closely with sales, customer service, operations management, and legal to prepare quotations and manage NDAs, LTAs, and other contracts that are accurate, professional, and meet customer and Company expectations.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following.
  • Drive pipeline development, enabling the sites to minimally achieve and exceed financial targets.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies tailored to the region to meet or exceed sales targets; responsible for creating pricing strategy for assigned region(s), building a high-performing commercial function.
  • Collaborates with customers and internal departments such as quality, customer service, order entry, billing and accounts receivables to resolve issues.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of Account Managers and commercial professionals, fostering a high-performance sales and commercial culture; set clear sales objectives and monitor the performance of the team to ensure goals are met.
  • Analyze regional market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for business growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders in the region.
  • Conduct regular customer meetings, visits, and technical demonstrations to enhance customer engagement.
  • Analyze sales data and trends to generate reports and provide actionable insights to senior management.
  • Ensure timely and accurate sales forecasting and pipeline management in Salesforce.
  • Drive quotation process, enabling operations and sales to win customer work based on response speed, accuracy, and preparatory rigor.
  • Standardize and drive a set of commercial metrics and dashboards that add value and provide data-driven insights to the division.
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand the customer base within the assigned region.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to enhance visibility and network; represent the Company at functions/meetings such as ASM, MHTA, SME, etc.
  • Review appropriate technical information through trade journals and industry reports to remain informed on current market intelligence.
  • Partner closely with operations, marketing, and technical teams to align regional sales efforts with Company objectives.
  • Ensure consistent communication and alignment with corporate sales initiatives and regional sales goals.
  • Partners with regional management structure on long-term operating strategy based on feedback from customers and industry trends.
  • Play a critical role in the annual budgeting process, providing informed guidance based on market conditions, customer understanding, etc.
  • This position requires the ability to travel at least 50% of the time (in or out of state) to customer facilities to engage in current and future business activities or as frequently as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or dictated by position.

  • Education - Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy or Marketing is preferred, or equivalent extensive training and experience in the industry is required.
  • Requires a thorough understanding of the technical aspects of heat treatment of aerospace alloys, including steel, aluminum, nickel, titanium, copper, brass, etc.
  • Familiarity with commercial, aerospace, ASME, ASM, and military specifications is required.
  • Must be able to read/interpret blueprints.
  • Requires a proven, successful track record of supervision, marketing skills, sales techniques, and general business practices.
  • Requires effective communication skills for interfacing with salespeople, management, shop supervisors, and customers.
  • Must have a current driver's license and maintain in good standing.
  • Must possess knowledge of plant and equipment capabilities to provide desired service to customers.
  • Must possess the ability to maintain a high level of credibility while portraying a positive company image.
  • Must be sensitive to customer needs and maintain an excellent professional attitude at all times.
  • Must be self-motivated and work within priorities established by operations leadership in order to accomplish company goals.
  • Must be tactful, diplomatic, and patient when handling customer complaints/concerns.
  • Must be capable of pricing jobs by reviewing blueprints, estimating time, possible fixturing/tooling costs, and actual heat treat cycles.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and databases, is required.

Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of, but are not limited to, the following.
  • Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment.
  • Must be able to sit and drive for long periods visiting customers' facilities and other required travel, including out of state.
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
  • Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
