We are currently seeking a Safety Manager to join our team. The Safety Manager will manage all aspects of safety on assigned project(s). The Safety Manager must have extensive practical knowledge, relevant work experience and continuing education in Construction Safety, preferably Heavy Civil and Utility.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Construction Safety experience, preferably Heavy Civil and Utility.
  • Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and behaviors and implement corrective measures.
  • Evaluates situations and render appropriate decisions without the need for immediate supervision
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Effectively able to influence others and work collaboratively to accomplish goals.
  • Previous experience working with Job Hazard and Job Safety Analyses.
  • Relates well with others of varying skill sets and experience levels. Able to effectively give instruction, receive direction; perform activities that require instructing others, persuading and negotiating.
  • Facilitates projects and effectively manages multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with project teams, employees as well as client representatives.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Organized and able to work effectively in a deadline driven, fast paced environment.


Education:
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent combinations of education, training and related experience.


Certifications:
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification required.
  • OSHA-Authorized Construction Outreach Trainer (OSHA 500/502) highly preferred.
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) and/or Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR with AED.


Major Responsibilities:
  • Ensure Company, client and OSHA safety standards and policies are implemented, understood and consistently complied with.
  • Maintains project safety related records including safety inspections, meetings, trainings and incidents.
  • Perform frequent safety inspections to ensure compliance with all Company, Client and OSHA safety requirements. Complete safety inspection form identifying unsafe conditions and behaviors and recommends corrective action.
  • Plan, conduct and document project safety meetings: Issue meeting minutes, feedback and recommended action plans to appropriate project management. Follow up on corrective action effectiveness.
  • Investigates all incidents, including near-misses, generates proper reports, maintains all job safety records.
  • Creates, with input from project team, Job Hazard Analyses as needed to ensure proactive safety planning.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, technical advice and expertise to project supervision employees toward achieving a zero-incident environment.
  • Capable of identifying known/potential exposures and recommend and implement immediate corrective measures to mitigate risk.


Other Responsibilities/Peripheral Functions:
  • Able to work a flexible schedule at times to meet business needs.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities/projects as assigned, such as participating in company committees/teams.
