Company: Revolution Medicines

Location: Redwood City, CA 94061

Description:

Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. The company's R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding scientists in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.

The Opportunity:

Revolution Medicines' Cancer Biology group is looking for a talented, creative, and motivated scientist with a strong background in chemical biology, biochemistry, and cancer biology to drive early target discovery and hit ID efforts for novel oncology programs. The successful applicant will join the Chemical Biology team within Discovery Biology. They will lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams composed of chemists, cell, and structural biologists and utilize a wide array of molecular biology, biochemical and cellular assays to identify and validate novel targets for RevMed's unique molecular glue platform. They will provide insight to guide high-throughput screening efforts and work closely with the mass spectrometry team to implement MS-based proteomics workflows. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with biochemical and cellular assays, expertise in assay development and troubleshooting, as well as a strong background in cancer biology and novel oncology targets. Above all, we are looking for a highly motivated and driven team player with proven leadership capabilities to join our diverse and talented team of scientists at RevMed.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in cross-functional target qualification efforts, including leading small teams to rapidly evaluate new targets.
  • Stay on top of relevant literature to identify novel target opportunities.
  • Design, execute, and troubleshoot biochemical and cellular assays.
  • Perform mechanistic studies as part of hit validation efforts.
  • Manage projects at external CROs.
  • Generate data in a timely manner and maintain detailed experimental records.
  • Work with teams to integrate information from internal experiments, literature, and company strategy to recommend new targets for the pipeline.
  • Regularly and effectively communicate findings at project team and company meetings.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:
  • PhD in chemical biology, biochemistry, or related discipline plus minimum 8 years work experience, including 5 years relevant industry experience.
  • Highly skilled in standard biochemistry, cell and molecular biology techniques.
  • Proven ability to drive collaborative projects and work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with early discovery programs in an industry setting.
  • Approach new ideas with a flexible, creative, "fail-fast" mindset.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with cellular and phenotypic screens (genetic or pharmacological), hit finding and validation.
  • Experience interrogating protein-protein interactions and knowledge of induced proximity modalities (molecular glues, etc.).
  • Solid background in cancer biology and cancer-relevant pathways. Must have interest in oncology, although direct oncology research experience is not required.
  • Conceptual knowledge of organic chemistry as it relates to small molecule drug discovery and chemical biology.
  • Experience with processing, interpretation and visualization of large, multidimensional data sets.
