E&C Engineer

Job Description:

• This scope of work for this electrical or civil engineering position in Colorado includes overseeing and contributing to large-scale solar projects.
• Responsible for providing electrical or civil expertise, with a focus on evaluating project drawings and handling requests for information (RFIs) across multiple projects.
• Project Overview includes Large Projects near Pueblo, CO; Two large solar facilities, which have started construction.
• A typical day for this electrical or civil engineering position will vary based on the project phase: Early Project Phase: The day will focus on collaborating with other engineers and project stakeholders to ensure all requirements are clearly outlined.
• Engineering/Procurement Phase: Once agreements are made for engineering and equipment, the focus will shift to evaluating drawings, studies, and analyses.
• Reviewing the technical documentation to confirm that everything aligns with the project specifications and requirements.
• Construction Phase: During construction, the day will be more hands-on, assisting contractors by addressing any questions they may have about the project. This could include clarifying details about the design or construction process and troubleshooting any issues that arise on-site.
• The overall responsibilities will shift from planning and reviewing to providing direct support during the construction phase.
• Work with our other engineers on the project to be able to understand/interpret design drawings and managing the compliance of the construction to the design drawings and managing RFI requests.
• Supporting a multifunctional group that includes various internal business units and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with facility operations and other internal departments, such as Siting and Land Rights: To coordinate on land-use matters, especially for projects involving land development, such as wind installations in addition to Environmental Teams: Due to the nature of moving earth and other environmental impacts, collaboration will be necessary to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Some of the Key Players will be Internal Stakeholders: Facility operations, siting and land rights, environmental teams, and other project engineers
• External Entities such as County and State Agencies: Assisting with obtaining local and state permits for large construction projects and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
• Role involves a mix of technical collaboration and regulatory coordination with both internal and external teams.
• Work with EPC contractors in addition to a Project specific team consisting of project manager and engineers, construction field team, construction managers, and construction/civil inspectors.
• Working with the Project controls cost/scheduling staff.
• Working on solar facilities near Pueblo, CO. It is expected that the resource be onsite at least 2-3 days per week during construction.

Qualifications :

• 5-7 years of electrical or civil engineering experience with 2-3 years specifically in the renewable generation project space (construction or engineering design).
• Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited school or strong/commensurate experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills along with strong analytical [thinking] skills to resolve answering questions, troubleshooting design conflicts, etc.
• Organization is key in this role as they will be interfacing with several different team, tracking and documenting.
• Knowledge of/familiarity with NCRs, RFIs, and the ability to understand and manage the scope of a contract.
• A strong team player with experience preferably in a large matrixed organization which would show proof of the ability to work cross functionally.
• Detail oriented, strong communication skills, and strong troubleshooting skills to resolve design issues that may come up as the project progresses.
• Former experience working with utilities or design firms.
• Professional Engineering license, or Engineering in Training/certification to become a professional engineer preferred.
• Knowledge of how to resolve a RFI and non-conformance requests.
• Familiarity with ProjectWise, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Procore would be helpful to review EPC contractors' drawings (technical review communication tool).
• SAP a plus.

Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
