The Marketing and Communications department plans, develops, and executes a broad spectrum of strategic integrated communications and marketing initiatives that drive positive experiences with PG&E and the programs PG&E offers. Marketing and Communications provides communications counsel and support to lines of business and manages the corporate brand.
Position Summary
At PG&E, we are building a climate-resilient energy system for California's future. A system that starts with safety, even in the face of climate change, and harnesses the clean energy resources of today and tomorrow. The Expert Communications Representative will serve as a member of the Operations Communications team with a focus on innovation and clean energy development, developing and executing various PG&E communications programs including internal, external, executive, media, and/or online communications. You will develop and coordinate communications strategies and initiatives with the goal of sustaining and advancing PG&E's innovative energy technologies and services with various stakeholders including but not limited to customers, clients, the general public, media, stakeholders and coworkers.
This role will require strong collaboration and consultation with PG&E's functional business areas, including senior executive leaders and external stakeholders to provide timely, relevant, consistent, and unified corporate information and message regarding PG&E operations, innovation, programs, and issues. Additionally, you will utilize your expertise as a strategic communicator to facilitate and build strong cooperative relationships with others to help guide key decisions within the company and for external audiences.
This position will communicate the potential of innovation to address emerging challenges across our operations, and the tremendous opportunity that innovation offers to transform our energy system to deliver for our people, the planet, and the prosperity of California for generations to come.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and at the Oakland General Office, on average, 1-3 days per week or based on business needs or company requirements.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $114,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $182,000.00
Job Responsibilities
As a strategic communicator, you will collaborate with coworkers and internal subject matter experts to package and present persuasive or compelling information for critical internal/external audiences that demonstrates the advancement of PG&E's commitments to deliver safe, reliable, affordable, and clean energy.
The role will serve as a member of the company's emergency response team, providing invaluable support during critical, high-visibility events. You will support the Public Information Office to address the needs and concerns of customers, employees, and external stakeholders during emergencies. This includes providing quick-response communications guidance and materials which may require working after hours and weekends as needed in the event of an Emergency Operations Center activation.

Job Responsibilities

- Develop and review strategic communication plans from PG&E's business strategies and priorities and ensure alignment and integration from key internal and external communications partners.
- Manage the development, implementation, and coordination of communication programs and initiatives.
- Maintain relationships and provides counsel to PG&E's functional business areas and other internal/external leaders on how to best address and resolve key issues.
- Partner with various PG&E leadership levels, functional business areas, and external leaders to remain current on challenges and opportunities affecting the company and its employees.
- Review metrics to assess and resolve discrepancies within performance progress and objectives.

Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
- 7 years of job-related experience
- CA Class C License, or equivalent
Desired:
- 10 years of related experience in corporate communications, journalism, and/or politics
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, advertising, marketing, public relations, or related discipline
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex issues in clear, concise, easy to understand language
- Energy industry experience
- Technology industry experience
- Experience in media or public relations, journalism and corporate or marketing communications
- Experience serving as an on-the-record spokesperson in both print and broadcast
- Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) credential
- Accredited in Public Relations (APR) credential
- Experience in coaching and counseling corporate officers and management at all leadership levels of an organization
- Ability to collaborate with senior management and/or corporate executives to support strategic planning and decision- making
- Proficient computer skills (i.e.: Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook) and experience with information systems
