Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)

Position Overview
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the implementation of safety and health regulations on construction sites. This role involves conducting safety inspections, training personnel on safety protocols, and collaborating with project teams to maintain compliance with federal and military safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the construction site to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement safety plans and policies in accordance with federal guidelines, particularly focusing on Navy and USACE requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance to site personnel on safety practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Monitor site activities and ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner, addressing any unsafe conditions or practices immediately.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation as required by federal regulations and company policies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related issues and collaborate with project managers to promote a culture of safety on site.

Qualifications
  • Certification as a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) or equivalent safety certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management, with a strong focus on federal and military projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, site safety practices, and safety management systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and engage with diverse teams.
