Summary

The VP of Financial Planning and Analysis (VP, FP&A), is a key member of the finance team. This role is responsible for driving value creation with a hands-on process across all sites as well as clear and effective business reviews, financial forecasts, business analysis, Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) and decision support related to all plant metrics, capital spending assessments, inventory analysis and site financials. The VP, FP&A has ownership of strategy, targeting, annual planning and forecast that include Commercial, business unit (BU), operational, cashflow and selling, general and administrative expenses (SG&A). This individual will have direct and constant communication with the senior leadership team to ensure company is making complete financial analysis.

  • Drive commercial and operational performance that focus the entire organization on financial fact-based analysis, efficient performance, commercial growth and process/systems efficiency.
  • Ensure that all capital spend and projects meet financial thresholds via improvement and utilization of existing financial systems, models, metrics and approval flow/criteria.
  • Develop the FPA team to impact the business with increasing visibility via utilization of key metrics, simplification of key processes via lean/six sigma and streamlining of key systems.
  • Focus on the improvement and visibility of free cash flow forecasting including collections, disbursements, inventory management and capital projects.
  • Partner with commercial teams to manage growth, customer contracts, margin analysis and efficiency of delivery to key customers.
  • Support mergers & acquisitions (M&A) activity and board projects with modeling, projections, due diligence and presentations.
  • Interactive leader of SG&A organizational design, key costs control and back-office efficiency
  • Facilitator and active leader of the SIOP business operations planning process to triangulate leadership of the commercial, production/logistics and the marketing/price functions to drive efficient decisions enabling profitable growth.
  • Coordinate/Administrate key management processes for timely, efficient & effective completion of the operational aspects of 5-year Strategic Plan (STRAP), Annual Operating Plan, Monthly & Quarterly Forecasts, as-needed business reviews
  • Strategic Action Plan (STRAP): Establish five-year Vision and Strategy that aligns with and supports the BU and corporate vision.
  • Annual Operating Plan (AOP): Lead and coordinate the process and development of the AOP. Ensure adherence to timelines and deliverables. Review and analyze the rollup of all cost components for the budget profit & loss (P&L); logistics, manufacturing costs and capital expenditure.
  • Lead and coordinate Monthly/Quarterly Financial Forecasts: Make the Forecast integral to the leadership, direction and management.
  • Utilize KPIs to ensure the success of initiatives related to BU performance, sales metrics, price realization, production performance, logistics, warehousing, cost saving projects, predictability and forecast accuracy.
  • Lead cross-functional process improvement, system rollouts and cost accounting financial transformations.
  • Gather and interpret large volumes of operational data and detect emerging trends, integrate operational intel, develop detective controls and predictive indicators.
  • Efficiently analyze and understand key value drivers and facilitate decision support to positively influence cash flow.
  • Assist with the month end close process, functioning as finance department liaison for the BU and facilities. Analyze, understand, explain, and report operational and financial results versus AOP, Forecast and Prior Year on monthly, QTD and YTD bases; and determine the key implications and actions required.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial analysis on business development projects to organizational management for decision support. Review and understand financials provided to support capital investments, new business opportunities etc.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

  • Ability to grow organizational structure and mentor dynamic team.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (JD Edwards), financial planning (OneStream or Oracle eBPBCS), Microsoft BI and related technologies.
  • Experience in large datasets and the ability to utilize data from various BI systems.
  • Finance management experience including knowledge of lean/Six Sigma management concepts and/or certifications.
  • Experience in mining/manufacturing/production environment, a background in cost accounting is a plus.


Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or related field required.
  • Approximately 15+ years experience required.
  • MBA, CPA, CMA, CFA preferred but not required.
