Some of what you will do:

The National Manager, Business Development - Print Services, will lead and inspire a high-performing team of Strategic Business Development Managers (SBDMs) to identify, prospect, and secure high-value clients within the Enterprise and Mid-Market business segments. With a strategic focus on customers with significant spend potential (>$100K), this role is pivotal in driving revenue growth and expanding Staples' market presence in print and promotional services. The incumbent will empower the team to establish strong relationships with key decision-makers, thoroughly assess client needs, and deliver tailored solutions from Staples' robust portfolio of print and promo offerings. This includes spearheading efforts in selling digital print-on-demand platforms to large clients, positioning Staples as a partner for seamless and scalable solutions. The role will also involve leading and supporting the team in Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes to secure new business opportunities. Key responsibilities include overseeing proposal preparation, navigating legal and contractual frameworks, and ensuring seamless progression from initial engagement to deal closure. Additionally, the National Manager will manage the onboarding process to guarantee a smooth and impactful transition for new clients, fostering long-term partnerships and aligning with Staples' commitment to exceptional service delivery.

Specifically, You Will:
  • Lead and manage a team of Strategic Business Development Managers.
  • Champions sales development by focusing the Business development team on goals & expectations, developing a culture of accountability, ensuring SBDM's know how to achieve the desired outcomes, and making success worthwhile.
  • Attends client consultations, observes and coaches teams on their selling approaches and processes.
  • Negotiation of service level agreements along with the national director, print sales.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new clients and manage their business with Staples during the first year to solidify relationships and stabilize business before transitioning the account to the account management team.
  • Coach the team to actively grow existing business during the onboarding period.
  • Ensure Sellers are conducting business and sales reviews with clients.
  • Ensure a smooth client experience by effectively communicating print project details to AMs or SAMs.


Some of what you need:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, sales or marketing (or related field).
  • Demonstrated senior sales abilities with proven record of meeting/exceeding sales targets and margin expectations.
  • Experience coaching for results, good organizational skills and demonstrated positive leadership style.
  • Creative selling, project management skills and strategic planning ability required.
  • Ability to analyze, incorporates, and applies new information and concepts to drive business performance. Experience using a database to access customer, sales and data relevant to team success.
  • Progressive sales experience with 10+ year of direct selling experience with minimum 5+ years managing sales associates.
  • Previous sales experience in both business development and account management.
  • Prior selling in a print environment a definite asset.
