Head of Security

RBSL has a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Security based onsite at our Telford Manufacturing facility.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will lead on the operational running of security and BCM/resilience outputs in support of RBSL business strategic delivery outcomes. The role will also support functional directors, programmes and employees execute the security strategy and maintain operational resilience.

The role will work closely with leadership and operational staff across multiple functions and levels to integrate and align security and resilience effects to the strategic outcomes required of the business. The role holder will also be comfortable briefing and positively influencing senior stakeholders across the business and all security disciplines to achieve effective and efficient outcomes in their areas of responsibility.

The RBSL Head of Security will work particularly closely and collaboratively with key functions on whom particular security and resilience operational burden falls, such as IM&T for cyber, facilities, manufacturing, supply chain, HR and Engineering. As such they will ideally be a strong security generalist, with multi-disciplinary experience or else a single discipline specialist but with extensive broader leadership and collaborative experience.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership of the security and resilience outputs:

• Lead the RBSL security SMEs and business team in execution of the security strategy.

• Support the Security Authority and RBSL leadership team in setting, executing and overseeing the governance of security and resilience for RBSL.
• Support cross-functional senior stakeholders in optimising efficiency and effectiveness of outputs to mitigate business risk.

Operational governance

• Lead on the rhythm of operational governance to support the Security Authority in giving the RBSL leadership team and Board confidence in the delivery of security and resilience across RBSL
• Support programmes and functions in the ongoing development and maturing of security governance

Deputise for RBSL Security Authority

• As required formally deputise for the RBSL Security Authority in engagement with the RBSL leadership team and internal and external senior stakeholder, including the owning entities, customer and key suppliers

• Support the RBSL Security Authority in onward development of security skilled staff within the sector and function

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

You will have:

• Extensive experience within the security industry, leading security inputs and advice to projects, programmes and business leaders in the Government sector and commercial organisations standards. This role would ideally suit a veteran of HM Armed Forces JNCO or above (but not essential).
• In-depth working knowledge of HMG and industry standard security policy, standards and good practice guidance and processing classified material to support the operational requirements for List X.
• Experience in conducting security compliance audits and risk assessments.
• An ability to understand the diversity of the organisational climate and reach a consensus when faced with diverse operational activities and conflicting regulations.
• An ability for calm and pragmatic decision making and the ability to work with the business and find cost effective solutions with appropriate risk mitigation.
