Work is performed under the general supervision of the Field Service Superintendent; however, considerable leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment. Some supervision may be exercised over supervisory, technical, clerical and skilled personnel.

Health Insurance
The city offers medical, dental, and vision plans. The medical plan is a high deductible health plan (HDHP) with a health savings account (HSA).If you're hired on or before the 15th of a month, your healthcare begins on the first of the next month. When you're hired after the 15th of a month, your health coverage will start on the first of the second month following.
Holidays
For many employee groups, the City provides 17 days (136 hours/year) of paid holiday leave. These include: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.
Life Insurance
After six months of employment, employees are eligible for $10,000 coverage under our group life insurance policy. Additional coverage up to the employee's annual salary ($40,000 maximum) may be purchased. Upon retirement this coverage will be reduced to $4,000. The premiums will be paid by the City.
Voluntary Supplemental Benefits
Life insurance (term and whole life), critical illness/cancer, accident, short / long term disability insurance
Deferred Compensation Plan
This plan allows employees to build a financial reserve for retirement by using pre-tax, payroll deducted contributions. This money is held and invested by the plan's trustees in options selected by the employee. Risk levels vary depending on the options chosen. Participation is voluntary.
Retirement Plans
The Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) and the Police and Fire Disability and Pension Fund (PFDPF) are the two plans available to City employees. Both are established by Ohio law and participation is required. Both the employee and the City of Hamilton contribute a percentage (pre-tax) into the system. Members do not pay into the Federal Social Security System. Employees and the City also contribute to Medicare.

Essential Job Functions
- Assists with developing and implementing programs designed to conserve energy and increase energy efficiency for utility customers.
- Assists in managing activities and personnel that are the responsibility of the Field Service Superintendent including but not limited to electric service assessments, plan review, customer service, and meter services;
- Reviews utility charges to ensure proper billing as required by the City's ordinances;
- Supports the Field Service Superintendent in customer matters and assists, as needed, in supporting new customer and customer retention/expansion initiatives;
- Reviews and recommends changes to utility system Rules and Regulations;
- Enters work orders for customer electric service releases provided by the Building Department;
- Assists with coordination of electrical service turn-on/turn-off for customers and contractors;
- Assists with recording, tracking, and follow-up of reported hazardous electrical service entrance conditions;
- Assists with matters including but not limited to electrical service theft and illegal electrical service connection;
- Assists with the growth and implementation of the City's fiber optic network including extension of the network to new customers and new City facilities, project specifications, contract documentation, contractor coordination, and asset management;
- Assists with project coordination of City of Hamilton fiber network employees;
- Coordinates fiber optic network requirements included with other City of Hamilton projects;
- Provide documentation support for electrical service standards and the fiber optic network;
- Assists with inquiries relating to solar power generation;
- Performs related work as required.
Skills/Knowledges/Abilities
- General knowledge of methods and practices involved in installation, maintenance and operation of electrical service equipment;
- General knowledge of applicable City Ordinances, policies, National Electrical Safety Code and National Electrical Code;
- General knowledge of electrical distribution systems and practices of electrical distribution engineering;
- General knowledge of the principles and techniques of modern building construction;
- General knowledge of possible defects and faults, standard monitoring and testing equipment and effective corrective measures for residential/commercial/industrial electrical systems and equipment;
- General knowledge of utility efficiency and conservation programs;
- Ability to effectively use a computer, cellular phone and related applications;
- Ability of make accurate engineering calculations at a sub-professional level;
- Ability to understand and work from construction plans, wiring diagrams, and drawings;
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings;
- Ability to perform work with accuracy and attention to detail;
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures;
- Ability to independently solve problems within assigned areas of responsibility;
- Ability to organize, prioritize, motivate, supervise and evaluate the work of others;
- Ability of establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees including supervisory personnel;
- Ability to communicate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors and the general public;
