Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer III with a strong background in DOCSIS technologies to join our network infrastructure team. In this role, you will investigate network issues, design and document network architectures, and collaborate with vendors to implement effective solutions. You will play a key role in optimizing network performance, ensuring security, and supporting advanced communication technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and troubleshoot enterprise network issues, both hardware and software-related.
  • Reproduce network issues in a lab environment for testing and analysis.
  • Collaborate with vendors to develop and implement solutions.
  • Design and document network architecture, including security, connectivity, and access parameters.
  • Perform assessments on existing technologies to identify performance and capacity gaps.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize network infrastructure and enhance performance.
  • Test and tune security devices and systems to ensure robust network security.
  • Program and configure routers, switches, and other network devices.
  • Implement and manage data and voice communication technologies.
  • Oversee network services from the planning phase through implementation.
  • Write detailed technical documentation related to network configurations, procedures, and protocols.


Required Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on DOCSIS technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of DOCSIS and EPON standards.
  • Strong understanding of RPHY and related cable network technologies.
  • Experience with Harmonic CableOS vCMTS and RPDs (e.g., Harmonic Pebble 2, Vecima ERM-32X).
  • Working knowledge of iCMTS platforms, including Casa C100G, Arris E6000, and Cisco cBR8.
  • Working knowledge of EPON platforms such as ADTRAN 95XX, SDX-6210, and Nokia 7360.
  • Proficiency with switch platforms, including Cisco NCS/ASR and Juniper PTX/QFX/ACX.
  • Strong knowledge of routing protocols, including OSPF, ISIS, BGP, and v4/v6 Multicast.
  • Ability to write comprehensive technical documentation.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in setting up and managing lab environments, including configuring noise generators and test equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.

Certifications:
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or similar networking certifications (preferred).
  • DOCSIS-related certifications (optional but advantageous).

Work Environment:
  • Hybrid work environment with opportunities for hands-on lab work, including setting up and configuring test environments.
  • Flexibility to work in lab settings, including creating mini-labs at desks or coordinating with the STEAM team for larger setups.

Education: Bachelors Degree

Certification: Cisco Certified Network Professional
