About Mesa Quantum

Mesa Quantum is building the manufacturing backbone of the quantum economy. We specialize in chip-scale quantum devices-starting with clocks and sensors-that unlock resilient Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems. Our team blends cutting-edge quantum physics with precision manufacturing and systems engineering to create scalable hardware that works beyond the lab. Backed by leading deep-tech investors and the U.S. Department of Defense, we're growing fast-and looking for exceptional engineers to join us.

Role Overview

We're seeking an RF & Analog Electronics Engineer to lead the design and development of precision, low-noise, mixed-signal electronics for our quantum devices. You'll work across disciplines to integrate electronics with optics, vacuum, and quantum systems-contributing to the heart of a new class of quantum sensors.

This is a hands-on, deeply technical role that will shape the future of Mesa's products and platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and characterize low-noise, low-tempco analog circuits, including amplifiers, filters, voltage regulators, and PID controllers
  • Build and optimize precision signal chains for atom-based quantum systems
  • Develop RF and microwave circuits including low SWaP synthesizers, PLLs, modulators, and impedance-matched front-ends (3-4 GHz)
  • Perform PCB layout for high-frequency, low-noise, and mixed-signal circuits, including multilayer compact boards
  • Collaborate closely with AMO and systems teams to co-design electronics with lasers, photodiodes, and MEMS packaging
  • Prototype, test, and iterate using tools like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, lock-in amps, VNAs, and Allan deviation analyzers
  • Develop and automate test setups for performance validation and data logging
  • Support EMI/EMC mitigation and qualification for defense/aerospace standards (MIL-STD)

Core Skill Areas

Analog & Mixed-Signal Electronics
  • Low-noise analog design & signal conditioning
  • PID loop design, control theory, and circuit implementation
  • ADC/DAC integration
  • Precision power regulation and current drivers (e.g., for laser diodes)
  • Low-distortion analog front ends

RF & Microwave Systems
  • Oscillator and synthesizer design (3-4 GHz range)
  • Impedance matching and signal integrity
  • Compact, low-power RF circuit design

System Integration
  • PCB design with Altium or KiCad
  • Co-design with photonics/optical systems
  • SPICE and RF simulation tools (LTspice, ADS, HFSS)
  • Git/Gitlab for version control
  • Python for automation and data processing

Bonus Skills
  • Experience with atomic physics principles (e.g., rubidium or cesium transitions)
  • Familiarity with MEMS integration, vacuum systems, or optoelectronic packaging
  • Prior work on qualification for aerospace or defense applications
  • DSP circuit or firmware development
  • Design for high-volume manufacturability (DFM)

Who You Are
  • You care about building real hardware that ships.
  • You are detail-obsessed, hands-on, and love solving hard technical problems.
  • You thrive in interdisciplinary environments and want to work closely with physicists, engineers, and product teams.
  • You want your work to matter-to defense, to infrastructure, to the future of quantum.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is between $140,000 - $180,000 including bonuses, commensurate with experience. In addition to salary, we offer incentive stock options for equity in the company.
